Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I will remember to be conscious of the location of my pointy objects."
I nod.

 

“I believe you mean more conscious than you-“
“Get going, the siege is on.” Levi says, distracted.
“I’ll give it back once we get in. Go!” Scurn says, cutting a wire with your sword before running through the portal that opens up along the wall.

 

I check to see if I still have my hammer, then look to Levi.

 

You do.

You can see Levi using your sword as a tesla coil of sorts, trying to clear a quickly closing path through palace guards around the portal before he throws down a smoke bomb, quickly enveloping the area and the room you're in.

"Stop sulking and get moving!" Levi growls.

 

"Trust me, if anything, civilised Shadows are the alien concept here. We weren't built to be like humans, we were built for our murderous instincts and to destroy all in our path to scare humans into not going out at night. Shadows would consume any weaker Shadow they came across to get stronger, before one stronger than they would consume them. It's only when groups of Shadows banded together and decided to stop acting like such wild animals the idea of a society without consuming others was born. The wild Shadows out here are the ones that turned away from that in pursuit of more power, while our society still rewards it without having to step on each other to achieve it." I explain.

 

"You make it sound as if you and guardians are used as tools for the gods to indirectly manipulate your reality's version of humanity. Is the image truly that bleak?"

 

"I more see it as we were all put into existence and the gods just sort of sat back and watched what happened," I say, "It's entirely possible that on another timeline, we all teamed up and fought the gods to become masters of our own reality."

 

"And on none of them did you win, else you'd be down a god of time. Probably best not to make them regret anything more than they do, anyways."
Pause.
"I suppose that this is almost goodbye, for now if nothing else. Unless you plan on searching for Emerald, I intend to return to studying other edge beasts for a while."

 

"She has been missing for a while, I figure I should follow the breadcrumb trial she's gone through the effort of leaving me." I say.

 

“I’m not sulking. I’ll tell you what I was doing later.”
I run through the portal.

 

"Well.. Sgavrinn doesn't really talk. I'll see who I might walk into."

 

“Missing? She didn’t even tell Ihra? Well... I guess she did tell us she might not be back...”
Arkclal looks conflicted, opening his mouth before pausing.
“I... don’t think that you of all people would really be the best choice to go out there... more like one of the worst choices possible. It’d be next to suicide for any umb- I mean, shadow.”

“Can he listen? Maybe he can lead you to somewhere you’ve been before.”

Levi glances towards the portal as Scurn uses your sword as a tesla coil to repel some of the guards.
“You get used to it. Come on, I won’t bite down.”

 

I look to Levi, readying myself to enter.

 

"Why's that?" I ask, narrowing my eyes.

 

“She was travelling to Virei’tus’ temple.”

“Go through the portal, we can’t link these directly. Help that idiot through the palace.”

 

"He isn't the brightest, but trying is always a possibility. Who knows what he might know."

 

“I don’t know what other connections you have, other than him and Anne... and you’re taking some time away from Anne, leaving him.”

 

"That's in the void? And not in some...light dimension?" I ask, confused.

 

“Barely, but correct. There isn’t a light dimension. His garden is deep in the edge, supposedly he trains himself and any of his strongest disciples against Edge Beasts. Apparently it sticks out like a sore thumb once you get close, though, since his shrine acts as a beacon of sorts.”

 

"Seems a little impractical but alright." I say, shrugging.
