Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Don't ask me about how the world works, cause I got no clue."

I walk towards the fabric.
"Another topic, look what I found."
And I grap the fabric out of the dirt.

 

“Then, can you maker her come out?”


“You need an HF blade to cut the lock, but what about the door? Or the wall, for that matter?”

 

"Ah, now I understand. A necromancer. How did he manage to find me?" I ask.

 

“He wasn’t lying to you at all. Arie has a tracker on her, and when Archivist Emerald left to... whatever she deems worth keeping a secret, she gave the tracker to Felnir. Instructions were easy enough for him to follow: If a certain date rolled around and Arie was still off in your reality, go find her. Finding you was unintended for us.”
Pause.
“Reminder, emphasis on aspiring necromancer. Idiot can’t even track traces of life yet.”

Linoa smirks.
“Yes, I can.”


“Feel free to have Atavul bash his skull into it for you.”

As you pull it, it tears. It seems to be a faded purple with a small bloodstain.

If it’s someone’s clothes, that... sucks. What’re you gonna do with that anyways?

 

"It's torn now. Maybe there's more u der the gravel?"
I'll kick some of the gravel out of the way of where the fabric was.

 

"Necromancers are fairly similar no matter their level of experience," I comment, "If you want Arie though, feel free to take her."

 

As you kick the gravel aside, you find that the fabric goes even deeper under the surface.

Well, there's more... but how much more? Do you know someone with a shovel?

"I'm afraid I can't just do that. Arie's goal was to find you and get you to find Emerald's proxy, so by relation I suppose we are intended to bring you with us."

 

"Then you'll have to wait, then. I intend to return to my palace. I've spent enough time away already, and the nearby kingdom will likely provide transport to allow me to return there." I say, pointing to a city in the distance.

 

“I am in no hurry, but... I suppose I must offer to protect an unknown being in that case. Not that you need it, even less so Arie...”

 

“Do it!”
Crystal says, excited.


“I’ll be removing the rug.”
I grab the carpet.

 

"Hm?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

 

“My instructions were to escort both of you should Arie have found you. You have yet to tell me your name.”

“Calm down, or she’ll just flee again once she sees you.”


It comes up surprisingly easily, and some sort of panel is visible underneath.
There’s three slots for what you presume to be runes, though stepping on or tapping the panel makes it sound completely solid.

 

"You can call me Aj." I say casually.

 

The arachnid nods.
“Arkclal, a pleasure to meet someone as esteemed as you. Are you sure you would rather be called by name than ‘king of kings’?” He offers, seeming a bit surprised.

 

"The title has...weight to it. Something you hardly want to be showing off in front of just about anyone," I say, pulling up my mask to cover my mouth and nose, "Some people throw a giant parade when they hear I'm in town. Others just end up being killed by me."

 

"A shovel? Nope. How deep do you think it goes."

 

“Okay.”
Crystal tries to calm down.


I toss part of the rug out of the way, stomping on the panel to test its strength as I take out my hammer.

 

Arkclal nods.
“As you wish, Aj. I do hope we won’t slow you down.”
Arie sits up, looking annoyed but ready to go.

I bet Rema would know. This is still really close to the mountains.

Linoa sighs.
“Also, don’t make sudden loud noises. She scares easily, and it’s a pain to get her to stop hiding in this room.”


It feels just as solid as the rest of the chamber.
The naga gets up and lays in an awkward position on the far end of the room.
“If anyone asks, you did this to me.” They mumble before burying their face in a tipped over pile of trash.

 

"Try digging it out a bit. Like a foot or something?"

 

"Okay."
Crystal calms down.


"Want me to hit you for good measure?"
I slam down on the panel with my hammer, at right below half of my full strength.
