Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"They don't sink immediately if you throw them well enough."

 

She sits up, looking towards them silently.

"Don't actually start any fires. She has problems if it's not below freezing around her."


One has a padlock (though the door looks even easier to get through than the lock) and the others have engaged deadbolts. All three have keyholes of some sort, though that obviously doesn't help an intruder like yourself much.

I think I'm just gonna let this one drop because it's still not making sense to me. Anyh-

You hear a twig snap off to your side along the edge of the forest.

 

I approach Arie, heading down what seems to be a safer path up the mountain. My clothing looks darker and cleaner, and I smile at Arie.

 

“Hhh... elllll-p?” She asks, tilting her head.

 

"What's up?" I ask, seeming calm and free.

 

"Oh, okay."


I start breaking the door with the padlock.

 

"What was that?!"

I slowly reach for my throwing axe.

 

“Ehh... mmmie. Sssss-t illl... g-onnne.”

"You'll also probably get in trouble over making her kind extinct, so... well, just don't."


It takes one good punch to break the rotting wood.
You can probably just... shove yourself through with little to no consequence.

"Don't even try, I'm not gonna waste our time." A deep voice grumbles, a dull yellow glow coming from an irritated pair of eyes.
"I live in the swamp, just go on. Didn't mean to startle you."

Part of me doesn't trust... it.

 

"Who?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

 

Arie points to the etching written by Emerald she showed you earlier.

 

"Oh, you're looking for Emerald?" I ask.

 

"Why's she the last?"


I peek through beforehand, looking before I leap.

 

"Okay, just, don't backstab me or anything while I leave."

I slowly continue walking, but keep an eye on the figure.

 

Arie nods.
"Chhh aa sss-ed... hhh unn... t-err."

As you continue, you notice four more sets of eyes.
"I don't even have hands..." They mumble.

You can now see a smaller, gravelly beach ahead.

"They were hunted, a lot. Absorbing their souls could grant the perpetrator more abilities, and everyone nowadays wants more power."


Seems to be a map room with a very soundly sleeping naga.
Their vitals are there, they just seem to somehow be entirely oblivious to their current... predicament.

 

"You get what I mean. Don't try anything."
I continue walking.

 

I just give Arie a confused look.

 

“Wow! Cool!”


I burst through the door, readying for the naga to awaken while looking for any other ways to go around the room.

 

The creature doesn't move until you find yourself walking on rough gravel, simply proceeding into the swamp.

What were those other things with that creep?

Linoa sighs.
"Don't get any ideas."


Getting hit in the head with splinters of wood don't seem to make it even stir.
The room has a rug that might be stereotypically hiding something, but considering the rug covers almost the entire room the possibility is unlikely and impractical.

"Oh, you're looking for her too?" Someone asks from the distance.

A human holding a sword that looks like a beast's gaping maw with its tongue as the blade approaches slowly.
"Wait, let me guess. You're that demon king she keeps talking about, right?"

Arie shifts about in response, seeming a bit uneasy.

 

"I saw lots of eyes. Spiders maybe?"

 

If I ever see a spider that big again, I’m killing it. As fast as possible.
