Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Ok! I'll go and send a message to Abigail so she can come find you!" Katie says happily, taking her bag of riches and beginning to drag it into the palace.

"Oh, um, what should I do about this?" Katie asks, gesturing to her voidling charm.


"Who are you talking about? Speak!" The air guardian says over whispers behind him, seeming to loosen his pull on the arrow a little.

 

"You can produce fire. Almost everything I know can be killed with fire. And I'm no exception."

 

The voidling just takes the charm off Katie's neck, waves, then skitters away with the charm in claw.


"And suddenly you're interested in hearing me out..." Chroma mumbles. "Overlord Atavul, god of war and rebirth. Not of this realm, but it took three other gods to bring him down including Mortius. Let me make it absolutely clear; I need your help, and you need me to keep lying to Atavul."

"And you have really big claws, and almost everything I know can be killed with really big claws."

 

"Fire can be used at a range and can hit a larger area. One good shot and I'm dead."

 

“Okay...”


“Give an example.”

 

Katie waves goodbye happily, before dragging her riches back to the Realm of Shadows.


"And how do we know this isn't a trick for us to lower our guard?" The air guardian asks, readjusting his grip.

 

"I've laid here for minutes remaining completely still while I continue bleeding out as you continue clinging to your belief I'm out to harass your city." Chroma mumbles. "Of course, if you insist I'm the bad guy, there's nothing stopping me from ending myself and sending... him... here. If I'm gonna be accused, I may as well play the role." He growls, moving his tongue onto a fake tooth with black powder visible inside.

"I'm not stupid enough to burn down a forest. There's too much of a risk of affecting a lot more people than just the person I'd try to burn."

As the dust settles from the landslide, Crystal can hear a quiet rumbling sound. Linoa seems uneasy but appears to be trying not to pay it any mind.


"Not bothering to evac a planet just because she didn't like the group living on it?"

 

"Then you really are here to threaten our city if you'd willingly send a beast to destroy it!" The air guardian shouts, seemingly set in their decision on how to handle Chroma.

 

Chroma rolls his eyes.
"I'd rather not, but if you're going to treat me as such I'm not going to be accused for nothing. Let me ask you one more time - do you want me to continue lying to him so he stays away from here or not?"

 

"I'd rather you both stay away from here!" The air guardian demands, raising his head up slightly to be looking down at Chroma - more than he already is by being airborne.

 

"Not happening." Chroma says bluntly, still not bothering to give the guardian direct eye contact. "Besides, who are you to make the decision for the rest of your people? If anyone should be calling the shots for everyone in this case, it'd be Abigail."

 

"I'm sure you have other tricks than just a big blast."

 

"She asked us to protect her home should you come back." The air guardian says, sounding pissed off.

 

“Let me make it crystal clear since somebody’s head seems stuck in the clouds - I am the only thing keeping Atavul from coming in person to your town, and if he comes, he’s going to mess up a lot more than just Abigail’s house. I need your help, and you need mine. I will stop helping you if you continue treating me like scum. So, lower that arrow and get someone to mend my wound before I wind up bleeding out back to Atavul’s doorstep. If you do, I’m yours to interrogate.” He says, serious. “Final offer.”

“It takes a big blast to kill things bigger than me. Still too risky.”

 

The air guardian seems to consider this for a moment, before lowering their arrow.

The very next moment, Chroma is telekinetically held up by the force of multiple guardians - held still, vines wrapping around his arrow wound and healing it.

 

He keeps quiet during the process, aside from one pained grunt.
The wound seems to have cut through multiple organs, some of which already seem to only consist of dead tissue at this point.

"It is meaningless, but I apologize for what I did to find this opportunity. Overlord Atavul keeps a close eye on his underlings and forces us to do... immoral, at best... things... if we want to leave unmonitored." Chroma says, voice guilt-ridden.

 

Crystal tries to find the source of the sound.


“...That’ll do it.”

 

"What are you blathering on about?" The air guardian says, not in the best mood.

 

“My reason for coming here in the first place. Pay it no mind.”

The source seems to be coming closer, a gargantuan quadruped dragging a boulder along behind it.


“Anyhow, how much did you get told so far?”

 

Chroma is eventually freed from the telekinetic grip, though his hands become bound tightly by thick vines that seem to glaze over with bark.
