Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Katie immediately turns and runs as fast as she can, as if her life depended on it.

 

Crystal tries his best to not look at it.
He fails, multiple times.

I stop, look, then walk around outside more.

 

"The intent was to scare her away from our territory."

 

"What would you have done if you caught her?"

As he glances up, Linoa brings him closer to the ground as a deterrent.
"Leave it be." She reminds.


As you walk, you feel watched by three small sets of eyes. They're all next to each other in a small bush, barely enough to hide the rest of their bodies.

Ihra sighs, waving at the edge beast before flying after Katie.

"No offence, I'm kinda surprised you signed up for that job."

 

"I-I didn't realise they'd b-be so t-terrifying." Katie says, still scared.

 

"I would have told her to leave, probably. I was told she was causing trouble, so telling her to leave was what came to mind."

"But.. looking at what I have done in the past, I can't be sure of that.."

 

Crystal resorts to covering his eyes with a layer of stone.

I adjust my clothes before glancing at them.

 

“I mean... a lot of stuff out here is.”

A few seconds later, Crystal feels the staff stop.

“This should be far enough.” Fireweed says, taking a deep breath which makes her throat glow a deep orange.


They seem to make eye contact before all three scatter, only two heading towards the outlands.
One has solid light blue fur, the other seems to have the tipped fur Stella mentioned.

“You can’t be certain of an outcome that didn’t happen. Besides, her kin is usually your prey. I doubt it crossed her mind that she’d be let go if caught.”

 

"C-Can we leave now?" Katie asks, accidentally creating a cone of fire.

 

“What was that dragon?”
Crystal says quickly.

I follow the one with tipped fur, making sure it doesn’t get out of my sight.

 

"I wish I knew. I don't know what I should do now."

"Should I leave?"

 

“Should you is not a question I can answer for you. I’d rather you not leave me with the queen, but if you wish to leave the option is open to you.”

“Four wings?” Puddles asks.


It moves faster; you’ll need to fly to keep up with its weaving through the courtyard.

“Yes, that’s what we’re doing.” Ihra says, continuing forward.

 

Katie sticks close to Ihra, though seemingly tries to drag her along at her brisk pace.

 

"Oh, right. She's a queen."

"So... what do you think would happen after I leave? With her, that is."

 

“Uhh, blue, I think.”

I leap up, making sure I don’t burn any plants, then start flying.

 

Katie can't drag Ihra at all; it feels as if she was trying to pull an entire glacier with a rope.

"I mean, did it have four wings. If it did, it might be Gale."


The hare weaves through columns, not seeming to care you're flying despite its attempts to lose anyone else who might be following.

"She'd probably try to burn her way out of here, which is a really good way for her to drown. Or, you can down this potion..." She says, handing you a vial. "...and see if she's lying about the love spell."

 

"Well.. it is what I came for.."

I'll take the potion.
"Down the hatchet."
And I drink it.

 

Katie's inability to drag Ihra isn't enough to deter her from attempting to leave as fast as possible, ending up sort of slowing herself down by being stuck onto Ihra.

 

It tastes slightly bitter, albeit no more than most herbs.

The naga takes a flat stick and offers it to you.
“Press it against your tongue once, don’t lick it.”

Ihra keeps her pace, slowly seeming a bit less annoyed as she regains her sight and Katie’s powers start to return to normal.

 

"Okay..?"
I do as told.
