“Well he didn’t. And now we know.”

 

"It's worse when they just take as many fish as they can and kill them to eat. They don't care about how much they're taking!" Katie says, clearly having deeper feelings about the topic.


I point at the training dummy I was using.

"Shoot this." I say.

 

"You doing good up there?"
I'll keep swimming.

 

“Doesn’t that leave less fish for when they actually do need to eat?”


Arie gives you a confused look, unsure.
“Ssss... ooot?”

Anne’s claws dig a bit into your shoulder in response. You feel her trembling.

“He could always choose not to respond.”

 

“Well, yeah, but...”
Pause.
“...Nevermind.”

 

"Yes! Exactly! They just waste food!" Katie says, angered.


I put Shadow Katana in the dummy's hand and swing it toward Arie a few times, before pretending to be Arie and look scared, firing a bolt of darkness into the dummy.

 

“I... really don’t understand that. Hoarding more of what you need of things that don’t spoil like gold I can understand... but hoarding food’s sort of silly most of the time.”


Arie leans away from you as you swing Shadow Katana, seeming more confused than scared before tilting her head slightly.

“He always keeps a bunch of secrets anyways, I guess one more wouldn’t hurt too much.”

 

"Calm down. You're hurting me."

 

"They're just greedy..." Katie says, letting out a sigh of anger.


I motion to Arie's exoskeleton, changing my form slightly to mimic it before shooting a spine at the dummy.

 

Crystal stays silent.

 

Anne's claws loosen a bit, but she doesn't respond.
"We protect guests..." The naga mumbles, still descending deeper.

After an hour of silence, Shack stops.
"This should be the meeting place."

"As long as EBB doesn't go back and make things worse again..." Ihra mumbles.


Arie seems hesitant.
"Hhhhh... urrr-t?"

 

"See, we're fine."

 

"Huh?" Katie asks, not quite hearing what Ihra said.


I nod, smiling.

 

Crystal looks around for anyone else.

 

"Don't... don't worry about it. I think Amber cleaned up its mess." Ihra sighs.


Arie seems a bit distrusting of you, shaking her head no.
"Emmm... mie sss... ai-d nnnno hhhh... urrr-t."

Anne doesn't respond, still trembling a bit.

The naga stops near an underwater cavern, gesturing for you to enter.
"She waits."

He can't see anyone, but the fog slowly starts to roll by faster.

 

"When're they gonna be here?"

 

"They're landing, give them time." Shack says, nudging Puddles awake gently before she drops the chain and startles herself into consciousness.

 

"What kind of mess?" Katie asks, worried.


"Well, you won't hurt it. It can't feel anything." I say, positive.

 

"When the guardians launched an offensive in response to your parents getting captured, Idhaenna sent her assistant to... help. It just... took out the city and every human in its sight, then left the mess to be cleaned up by someone else."


Arie still seems hesitant.
"Amm g-uarr-d... iiiannn. Nnno-t hhh... urr-t."

 

"She'll be save, right?"
