Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Right.” Linoa chuckles, continuing on.

There’s a snake wrapped around a tree branch, and the bug on Crystal’s head seems to notice and try to keep a part of Crystal between it and the snake.
The snake, on the other hand, seems to be asleep.

 

Crystal continues watching the bug intently.

 

"I can tell your original form from your clone. The clones were designed to last for that fight, any longer and you'd have to deal with it's decay," Praecantatia says, sighing, "It wasn't as easy killing Aj and Artemis though. Gaia didn't want to take Artemis back after what you did."

 

"A fair point. Just pointing out that finding anyone here is a difficult task."

 

Ihra looks disappointed with herself.
“I guess it’s too late to apologize to them, for now at least.” She sighs. “But, uh...”
Ihra unfurls her seraphic wings, though they appear a bit more draconic than angelic in nature.

“That’s why we’re so strict... I guess we needed to post someone at the church after all.”

It doesn’t move too much, other than to put a piece of Crystal between it and less desirable things.

The sky turns a green hue briefly, Linoa looking up.

 

Praecantatia seems unmoved, though Stephanie is confused.

 

“I don’t know why they also went to my original body. Iris said she has them too.”

 

"No one guarding it? Well... churches are considered as peaceful places, but I guess someone didn't follow that rule."

 

Praecantatia just smiles like a parent to a child who drew stick figures, before writing something down in Stephanie's tome.

 

“There’s always one person who ruins things for everyone else.”

Ihra calms down a bit, seeming less apt to bolt out of the room.
“Well, I’m sorry about acting up at the end. It’s just... I thought Lux was a legitimate threat, and so does Xlentia. With Emerald gone, Lux would be erased the moment he stepped foot in the Void. To find that something we’ve been worrying about and distracted us from the Hive Master was all just a test... it felt like a betrayal, frankly.” She sighs, cleary venting.

 

"The truth is, he was a threat. We all had to suppress him when he reformed, Caelia and Temporus barely managed to stop him from going back to kill Xlentia. We calmed him down, and he suggested you and your group attempt a simulation of the same to see if you can fight gods," Praecantatia explains as she writes, "Of course, he went easy on you. We didn't want any accidental killings."

 

“He suggested it...?” Ihra asks, confused.

 

Crystal follows Linoa’s gaze, looking up as well.

 

He notices the sky going from a sickly green color to the normal blue, a wave of mist sprinkling over him after a few seconds.

 

Praecantatia nods.

"In case we ever experience something like that again, and we're not around to stop it." Praecantatia says.

 

Ihra smiles, seeming a bit comforted.
“Is it just me, or are you starting to put a little bit more faith in mortals?”

 

"There are always a few rotten apples."

 

"I've always had faith in the mortals that learn and master the arcane. I'm proud of Stephanie for following in my footsteps." Praecantatia says, smiling at Stephanie. Stephanie seems lost for words, surprised, before walking over and hugging Praecantatia.

 

“Such a shame they seem to gather here...” The guard sighs. “If you find anything, please let us know. We’d appreciate the help.”

“She is your daughter.” Ihra says happily, smiling.

 

"I love you, mum." Stephanie says, hugging Praecantatia tightly.

Stephanie and Praecantatia share an embrace for a bit, before Stephanie lets go, happy.
