“Okay, good. I figured Abigail would’ve pawned it off or just let it die, but it being here is better. For it, at least.”

 

"Both sides are happier with it under my care. Abigail had no need for a phoenix." Praecantatia says, making another bottle out of a glass crystal; shaping it in her hands.

 

“Iris said that she found that to be the funniest part.” Ihra sighs.

 

"I can't say I share her sense of humour." Praecantatia says, preparing another potion.

 

“She’s insane, no denying that. I wonder what she looks like with the seraphic wings...”

 

Praecantatia pauses for a moment, before continuing.

"Yours were quite impressive. I thought Lux would've killed you first." Stephanie says, smiling.

"Mortius ended up killing you. Caelia went too far." Praecantatia says casually.

 

“He got around the erasure?” Ihra asks, surprised.

 

"It was mine, yes. So I take it you already found that, huh?"

 

"We've done a full sweep of the church, but the basement and attic haven't been unlocked or even touched in quite a while. Nothing was hidden in either."

 

"Whaddya doin'?"
Crystal whispers very softly to the bug.

 

"He was never in any real danger from you. You might be able to stand up to him at a fraction of his power, but I doubt you could stand up to every god of this reality at our full power." Praecantatia says, almost menacingly.

 

"So you also found the blood?"

 

Ihra seems confused before pausing.
"Wait... you're lying. Mortius didn't kill me. You haven't found a way to circumvent my erasure, neither has he."
She steps back towards the workshop entrance.
"Besides, what's gotten into you? Are you all really that bent on killing me too?"

"Yep. Still strange we haven't found a body, or any sign of where they might've taken it."

"Are you really talking to a bug?" Linoa asks.

The bug doesn't respond, crawling around a bit before settling back on Crystal's head.

 

"No. What bug?"
Crystal quickly snaps back to attention.

 

"But.. a lot of shapeshifters live in this town, correct? What if those centaurs just changed into something else since the last time I saw them?"

 

"Mortius did kill you, so you wouldn't experience the pain of your additional body decaying in a prison. You're back in your original body." Praecantatia explains.

 

“Wait... the extra life. That makes sense.” Ihra sighs, seeming to figure things out. “But... could you please not do that again? I don’t want my friends to forget me...” She sighs.
Praecantatia notices a slight bulk in the back of Ihra’s robe.

“The thing on your head.”

“They can change, yes, but that doesn’t explain where they vanished to. We still haven’t seen any sign of them hiding or carrying something.”

 

"Oh, that bug. No. I wasn't."

 

“Then who were you talking to?”

 

"Nobody."
