Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“He’s a faun, I think. Ain’t held together by much, but he’s got one hell of a lab.”

 

"Okay! We'll look out for him!"

 

I'll approach them.
Do they try and stop me before I get to them or can I just walk up to them?

 

“Say hi for me if you ever find him, will you?”

You can approach them, but they keep an eye on you once you get close.

 

"We will!"
Crystal beams.

 

I gently wave as I get closer.
"Anything going on here?"

 

"Yeah, a murder without a body. We saw you come out of the church earlier, you got any leads we might've missed?"

"How long until the next trade meeting, anyways?"
"It's tonight, but I'm going to be getting a bit of sleep soon because Gale isn't very good at staying awake late, so I often just hang around until sunrise for her to swing back."

 

There doesn't seem to be a response. Though Ihra can hear some pained screams from outside her room, which get cut short.

 

She springs up to her feet, testing the door with a concerned look on her face.
"Don't be Iris, don't be Iris, don't be Iris..." She mumbles, trying to open it - or, if that fails, knocking on it.

 

The door opens easily, out onto the landing of Praecantatia's first floor. Ihra can hear more screams coming from downstairs, echoing up the staircase.

 

Ihra approaches uneasily and slowly, fear balancing out some of her curiosity.

 

The screams get louder as she approaches, before they seem to stop. As Ihra enters the living room, she can see a horror movie on TV, likely the source of the screaming,. Shadow Stephanie and the demonic girl seem to be both asleep, though the demonic girl's third eye seems to be watching the movie. Ihra can sense a lot of magic passing between the two, the demonic girl likely subduing Shadow Stephanie's own demons.

 

Ihra smiles, relieved as she looks for signs of anyone else.


Iris lands on Earth, cloaked as usual before kneeling on the ground.
"Lady Gaia, I know I have yet to earn your forgiveness, but what happened to my form? Your reality is safe as far as we can tell, did you see what killed her?"

 

The demonic girl's eye seems to follow Ihra as she searches. Without the screams of the horror movie, Ihra can hear some tinkering from Praecantatia's workshop.


Gaia doesn't respond. Iris can feel a connection, though she doesn't seem to be in a responsive state.

 

Ihra waves once at the demonic girl before moving towards the workshop.


Iris pauses, seeming caught off-guard.
After a few minutes of stillness, she leaves again.

 

The girl waves a hand in response.

Ihra can hear Praecantatia and Stephanie talking inside, seemingly working on something.


As Iris does so, she notices the karmic seed fall out of her wrist, withering away with a hissing sound.

 

Ihra knocks on the door, curious albeit nervous.


Iris stops just as she’s about to leave completely, checking if the connection is still present in any way.

 

The door opens before she can knock, seemingly automatic. Praecantatia and Stephanie seem to be mixing potions; Praecantatia adding ingredients while Stephanie writes it down.

"Adding one phoenix feather..." Praecantatia says as she carefully drops a red feather into the potion. The potion begins to shake rapidly, and Praecantatia telekinetically lifts it over to a black box, opening it and putting it inside. The box rumbles a bit, before stopping.

"Failure." Praecantatia says, glancing over at Stephanie who jots it down.

"Maybe we could use an ice phoenix feather to lower instability?" Stephanie suggests.

"No, we need the fiery essence of a fire phoenix. We just need some way to balance it out at the same time so it doesn't go out of control." Praecantatia says.

 

“Have you tried spectre’s blood?” Ihra asks, unsure of how else to make her presence known.

 

Stephanie jumps a little, though Praecantatia seems unsurprised.

"As a balancing agent?" Praecantatia asks, opening a drawer below her and pulling out a glass crystal from it.

Stephanie turns around and heads over to Ihra, before giving her a hug.

"Thank you." Stephanie whispers to Ihra.
