Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Praecantatia takes a while to meditate. During that tine, Ihra can feel demonic energies trying to grip at her soul.

 

She puts up an odd barrier that forces feedback proportionate to the energy’s strength, but the energy feedback seems to draw from the energy’s strength instead of the barrier.

 

The demonic feeling stops, though Shadow Stephanie seems to grow a little restless inside

"I've found him, but I can't open a portal too close to him. Some sort of barrier is surrounding him. I can open a portal to him a bit of a distance away, however." Praecantatia says as she walks out of the room, offering the crystal back to Ihra.

 

"That's fine, anywhere near him is a lot closer than I've been."

 

"Are you eager to leave, or do you want to stay for a bit? I'm sure Stephanie wouldn't mind seeing you again." Praecantatia asks.

 

“I really want to say yes, but Lux isn’t waiting for anyone. I’ll need to come back here after I get Aj and Artemis, though, so I can say hi then.”

 

"Alright, good luck." Praecantatia says, quickly drawing runes on the wall next to her. A portal opens up into the Realm of Shadows once the runes are complete, a large mountain not far from it.

 

Ihra starts heading through before pausing.
“Is he on top of the mountain?”

 

Praecantatia nods.

"There's a powerful force around it, be on your guard." Praecantatia warns.

 

Ihra nods.
“It wouldn’t be my first battle, nor would it be hers.” She says as she steps through.

 

The portal closes behind Ihra, leaving her in the ominous air of the foot of the mountain. There seems to be a sign posted by a tall wooden archway in the distance, at the start of the mountain trail.

Ihra walks over, reading the sign as she looks to see how long of a climb it might be.

Two of the closets in the bedrooms have clothes; one has formal wear and the other has a variety of everyday clothes.

 

I check to see if the clothes are tangible.

 

As soon as Ihra gets close to the mountain, she feels almost all her magic drain; what remains being suppressed. Her body feels weaker, like the weight of the world decided to rest on Ihra's shoulders for a bit. The sign says something written in Shadowtongue, though judging by the bowl of shadow crystal shards, it probably warns people of danger.

 

Some of the magic Ihra has within her seems to react differently to the suppression, becoming slightly stronger while the rest of it is suppressed. Her staff blocks the drain, albeit not the suppression. She still loses her balance, but presses on anyways.

They seem tangible, but it's hard to predict what will stay once you leave your chamber.

 

I keep them on the hook, then go to leave the chamber.

 

The red outline appears in the bedroom wall, the simulation partially ending in order to let you out again.

 

The mountain trail is tough, Ihra often needing to climb up tall walls with few footholds, or carefully cross thin bridges over dangerous slopes. By the time she reaches what seems to be an abandoned camp about a sixth of the way up, she's already completely exhausted.

 

She sits down, looking up towards the top of the mountain as she tries to catch her breath.
