Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Iris nods.
"Actually... how much room is there around here to stretch out? I don't want to take up airspace if it's going to wind up interfering with other people here."

 

"Plenty, we're surrounded by sky!" The strong air guardian says boldly, before hopping off the edge of the platform. A few seconds later, he speeds past up to the island's top.

 

“Well, the seed’s gonna make this suck.” Iris mumbles as she reverts to a size comparable to the crystal, letting the winds aid her slow glide.

 

The seed doesn't seem to effect Iris much, other than wrapping it's vines further and increasing their size in comparison to Iris' size change.

Gentle breezes are met with strong currents further below, seeming to push Iris upward to keep her from falling to Earth.

 

Iris circles the island, cloaked from below but not above as she slowly circles the island.

She continues this idle behavior until a guardian approaches her or the sun sets.

 

I watch him as he drinks.


“I give off that kind of vibe.”
Voidfiller casually remarks.

 

"Don't go wandering too far."

I'll read over the letter.

 

The sun eventually falls below the clouds, giving way to a beautiful unobstructed view of the night sky.

 

He laps up water as if the fountain was an oversized bowl, leaving after about a minute of drinking.


“What other catch did you throw in?”

Iris’ spines glow a dull red as she begins to play around, flying in loops and occasionally diving only to turn upside-down and ascend again. She gives the island a little more space while doing so.

 

Iris senses something large looming below her as she flies around at night, it's soul powerful.

 

I head back to the bench.


“I’ve threatened him a few times, but that’s only after he didn’t pay up.”

 

She slows to a hover, looking down to try and scan its soul for a bit of information.

Buddy follows you back, seeming a lot less intent on taking the lead on anything.


“Only then?”

It has what looks to be a prayer, though the bloody fingerprint obscures the last word on the page.

“Hey, love, come over here.” Anne calls from the right side of the room.

 

As she lowers, a large dragon roars past her, scales black and green. Its wings seem to carry it with ease, barely flapping them to gain height. The dragon's speed far outmatches Iris', cutting through the sky like a razor through warm butter.

 

Iris slows even more, watching the dragon cautiously.
“They are not lost...” Iris mutters to herself in a draconic language.

 

The dragon doesn't seem to notice; or does and doesn't care. It flies off through the clouds, leaving a fast-fading dark aura in it's wake.

 

Iris reverts and ascends to land back on the island.

 

I'll take the book with me and walk towards Anne.
"What is it?"

 

She pushes an office door open, and there’s a fair amount of blood on a tipped-over chair.

 

I turn back to him.
“Want to go home?”


“Only then.”

 

A few air guardians walk about with lanterns or glowing mage crystals on the island, seeming to be a night patrol. The island is fairly dark, most houses keeping a low light too.
