Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The fastest way seems to be through the back alleys, though it's a maze of split paths and you find yourself a bit lost once you realize you went in a circle halfway to the tower.

 

"Guess my job's done then." Abigail says, crossing her arms happily.

 

"I mean, he'll just drown it and rend its soul after he shows it to Atavul, but one less soldier is one less soldier."

 

"Who knows, maybe that was the solider that was going to kill one of us." Abigail shrugs.

 

"True."
Pause.
"Wait, if your house got flooded, is the phoenix even still alive?"

 

"I've got it somewhere safe, it's probably not dead." Abigail says, subtly winking again.

 

Amber just shrugs.
"Well, I get to wait until sunset then hope I stumble across some dead people. Don't let one of those dead people be you." She says, ready to take off her charm.

 

"Good luck or whatever." Abigail says, giving Amber a wave.

 

Her body ignites in necrotic fire as she takes the charm off and sinks into the ground.

 

"Uh.. which way now?"

 

There isn't much ground to sink through over a volcano, but Amber manages it. Abigail heads back inside for Katie and begins preparing for Chroma's next visit.

 

Iris warps into a field, cloaked as she looks at the karmic seed in her wrist.

“I... dunno. If there was some way to still talk to that spirit, she could fly up and figure it out.”

 

Thorns grow out from it, wrapping up her arm and digging into her; drawing a bit of blood.

 

"Maybe we could climb one of the houses?"

 

I continue petting him.

“I’m guessing you haven’t checked it out?”

 

He continues panting at you, his breath not the most pleasant scent to take in.


"No, not with all the weird things coming out over there."

"That might work, but... what if I jump up on the rooftops, then come back once I know how to get to the belltower? That way I could also see if it's even a church."

The blood runs along her scales to her staff, giving the crystal a crimson glow.
"Well, I guess questions never get answered if you never ask..." Iris mutters as she looks for a forest, alternatively settling for any nearby guardians.

 

She sees both, a few forest guardians chatting a short distance away in a dense redwood forest.

 

"Sure, I could throw you up there."

 

I rub his head a bit, then stop petting him.
"Go get water."

"What weird things?"

 

He wags his tail, panting slowing down.


“The usual, really. Hybrid abominations, people who’ve lost their mind and are a slave to some crazed force, and everything else that comes with the other gods’ disappearance.”

“Alright...” Anne says, nervous. “Don’t miss.”

She reveals herself and approaches the guardians, otherwise silent.
