Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I am my god."
Chroma sends a superviolent shockwave through the water as the portal snaps shut, nearly-instantly depressurizing it while leaving a bubble of safety around Abigail.

The lightning-beast tries to give Abigail weak shocks to help her come to.

 

Katie expends her energy in controlling the water, sending it out the house where it evaporates before it even touches the magma. Katie falls to her knees, exhausted.


Abigail moans as she wakes, putting a hand to her head in pain.

 

The beast gives her space, sitting next to the fae.

 

"What happened?" Abigail asks, looking at the steam rising from her volcano as she rubs her head.

 

The hound doesn’t respond, glancing at the steam before going back to periodically scanning its surroundings for anyone else approaching.

 

There seems to be another guardian approaching the volcano rather fast.

 

The hound puts itself between Abigail and the other guardian, wary.

 

An air guardian flies above the volcano, before gliding down.

"Abigail, are you alright?" The air guardian asks, concerned, "Your volcano erupted, and then all that steam came out of it. Did someone try to attack you?"

"I'm fine, just some...phoenix asshole." Abigail says, rubbing her head.

"Are you sure? You don't look ok." The air guardian asks.

 

“What do you do around here?”

 

"So if you get scared, you burn your surroundings? Or was that before you got control of your abilities, if you have control now, that is?"

 

The hound sits next to the fae again, seeming uninterested in the guardian. However, it gets up and lets off a thunderous growl as Amber rises from the ground, quickly putting on her charm and patting out the necrotic fires on her body.

"Abigail, right?" She asks, leaving her lance in her chest.

"If you grab me by the neck, I'm going to burn my surroundings. I had control, I just didn't know where they were so I burned everything nearby."

"I work in FTL repair, so usually I'm free to just hang out in whatever simulation I feel like."

 

"Huh. How many people work around here?"

 

"Three billion, I think. This is a relatively small arkship, after all."

 

"Who are you!?" The air guardian demands, swiftly putting themselves between Abigail and Amber.

 

"Amber. An old acquaintance, perhaps a friend of a friend. I heard Chroma was sent here, but it seems he already stepped back for the time being."

 

Katie stumbles out of Abigail's home, exhausted.

"I...I got rid of him." Katie says, almost completely drained of energy.

The air guardian looks shocked, immediately going to Katie's side and helping her stand.

"The bastard that's been trying to steal that dumb phoenix from me?" Abigail asks, annoyed.

 

"Right. Okay."

 

"I doubt you did much more than annoy him, he's completely immune to the effects of the core elements." Amber says, glancing at the hound.
"And yes, that would be general Chroma. Disgusting abomination, albeit a beautiful sight in battle."
She steps towards Katie, eyeing her between claws.
"Judging by the amount of energy run through you, I'd say he'll be back in about nine days."

"So yeah. On the bright side, unless there are more dumb thugs around here, it won't happen again because the idiots who tried to kidnap me are dust."

 

"Great, another visit..." Abigail sighs.

"How do we stop him?" Katie asks.

 

"Good news, it's a one-step gig. Bad news, that one step is to free his boss - Atavul. Worse news, that means you lot need to get yourselves together again and remind the Hive Master why he fears you."
Pause.
"Also, if you could maybe not threaten the refugees, that'd be great." Amber mutters as she gestures to the fae.
