"Is he going to attack again?" Katie asks, even more scared.

 

"I don't know, I've been here with Kiin. My ties to Atavul are cut, any information I have is old news."

 

Katie just paces about worriedly.

 

Rose sighs.
"Come in already, it's your own house. No need to dawdle at the door." She says. "There's a few cookies in the kitchen, too."
"No there's not!" Kiin calls, laughing.
"Well... there will be in about six minutes." Rose sighs.

 

Katie heads inside, but goes straight to her room.

 

Rose closes the door behind her, but doesn't follow.

There's a small wrapped box sitting on Katie's made-but-clearly-jumped-on bed.

 

Katie heads over to the box, unwrapping it.

 

"Yeah. There's a special leaf that can make a love potion of some sorts. Apparently the plant that gives those leaves grew in the area where the fire happened. But... they also grow in cold places, like mountains."

 

Within is a ring and a note.

"Katie,
Hey, it's Eric. I pulled a few strings to give you this, but it's not really strictly for you. The ring should help with the coming days, and wearing it for the first time will give you a small glimpse of past events. Don't ask how it works, I didn't make it. Go with it, okay?

PS: A pretty big enemy visited Abigail's house, though you might want to take the phoenix from her before she kills it with bad parenting.

"We're not going back there. I hated the week up there, and I'm not going back." Anne says bluntly.

 

Katie smiles, putting on the ring.

 

"I know. It was more a suggestion towards Rema to look in the mountains, if she ever needed those leaves."

 

She hears a quiet telepathic voice once she slips it on.
“Touch the gem, lend me your strength... one unique soul to see into another...”

“I don’t have a death wish. Yet.” Rema sighs.

 

"You're talking about the mountains on the main land. I meant the mountains in which you live. I don't want you to risk your live for a leaf."

Katie panics, quickly removing the ring and throwing it on the bed.

 

Rema pauses.
"It... might get cold enough up here in the winters? I don't know if there are any here."

"In what sense?"

"I do not give to the takers." The voice says before the ring returns to a dormant state.

 

Katie carefully inspects the ring again.

 

It has two visible gems; the primary one faceted on the outside of the ring, and a small flat gem on the inside of a slightly different color.

 

Katie shakily puts the ring on the tip of her finger, scared about having her powers stolen.

 

Bardock shrugs.
"You never know."
