Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Its energy converts from a spherical form to a rod-shaped form.
“Yes and no. The orb is an energy projection from embedded nanobots, so it would simply lose form and disperse once it got too far from you.”

 

I swing it around for a bit.
"Would I get another?"

 

“If you used the correct gesture for it and the nanobots weren’t fried, yes.”

The blade seems to stabilize at just a foot long, but grows to match a logsword at a full swing. It’s completely weightless.

 

I do a bit of flourish with the blade, then try and quickly transition to the beam.

 

"Spirit-calling tonic?"

 

The orb vanishes the moment you try to switch, your right hand now seemingly imbued with the green energy.
"You need to look at something to lock on to it. I'll pull up a few training dummies, and the beam will automatically check your memory to see if it should be healing a friend or destabilizing a foe." The bug says, fiddling with the interface a bit more until two identical holographic dummies show up a few paces away from you.

"I figured that my grandchild's a bit more important than other things. You said you wanted to talk to your parents, and the spirit-calling tonic is half of what's needed."

 

I try the somatic command again, aiming at one of the dummies.

 

Gaia smiles, a few birds flying overhead as everything seems to slow down for a bit.


"You should be free to access it. Would you like me to guide you there, or are you capable of going there on your own?" Artemis offers.

 

"What's the other half?"

 

"You'd need to transform and stay still. Which... is easier said than done."

That's a load of crap, I can sit still!

Fenira just relaxes, letting whatever happens, happen.


"I'll go there later. Flying numb is an incredibly useful skill, albeit not a pleasant one."

The beam lashes out, forming a mostly transparent green sphere of energy around one of the dummies before it begins to crumble into a pile of dust.

 

I switch back to the orb, approaching the dummy to see if I can touch it.

 

Physically yes, just not the dust pile (which seems to be reforming slowly).

 

I rear up my left fist and try clocking the dummy to see how tough it is.

 

It feels like punching Xlentia's chamber doors - you get the feeling that's not particularly good for your new joints as your fist is stopped immediately.
"...Oh, sorry. I could have it simulate flesh instead of solid armor." The bug offers.

 

Gaia disappears in a flower after a while, Fenira left to relax in her garden.


"Don't overwork yourself. Not having energy when you need it is killer." Artemis says as she follows me back into the palace.

 

“For testing purposes, that would be nice, yes.”

 

"Uh.. Okay? Why?"

I'll start to transform.

 

“Most bestial spirits are innately stronger and can hold a link to the spectral plane much easier than human spirits.”

After a few more keypresses, the bug nods.
“Alright, clock it.”

Fenira lets herself drift off.


Rineth nods.
“There’s not enough of us for me to not take dire risks. Regardless, it’s good to see you again. Seemingly recovered, as well.”

 

"Sure. But, do you need anything from me? Like blood?"

 

Blood? Where? You haven’t let me draw blood in a while...

“No, just a bit of patience.” Rema says, stirring a bit slower.
