Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Shhhh." Gaia hushes quietly, Fenira feeling soothed and relaxed; like all of her problems melted away.


"Well he got killed, and he's not stupid," I say offhandedly, thinking, "He'd probably think twice or take a more conversational approach before he tried to kill Xlentia again."

"Tenebrae would stop him." Artemis states.

 

"Not when I visited Rema, but some time passed, so who knows."

 

Fenira submits, laying down.


"Perhaps he'd try speaking with Emerald once she's located... unless the Hive Master's daughter is to be trusted, Emerald's the only one able to recall anything Xlentia erases. Of course, the obvious is the issue with that currently."

"Wasn't Rema preparing something for you, anyways?"

 

"Yes. That's why I'm here now. I'm waiting."

 

"You might want to go check on how she's doing. She always overestimates how long she takes."

 

"Does somebody have my stuff?"
I ask, turning off the map.

 

"It's back in your room, which should be the only marked thing on your map." The bug says as it reforms, door opening after it finishes.

It steps through and signals for you to enter.

 

"Yeah, I'll leave you be then."

 

"Good to know."
I step inside and continue to follow.

 

"You weren't any trouble. I hope your wedding turns out to be everything you hoped for and more." He says, handing you your cooled-off smiley tile.

Once inside, the door seals shut and the bug begins to mess with a holographic interface.
"Okay... You have three weapons built in; a melee ranged energy whip, an infusion beam should you choose to heal allies or disintegrate foes, and a piece of heavy artillery. For obvious reasons, you don't get to test the artillery here."

 

"And what're they mapped to? Especially, the artillery, since we're avoiding that one."

 

Gaia changes to her smaller form, sitting next to Fenira and gently petting her head.


"Well, I should get to contacting Tenebrae. Nothings going to get done if we spend all day chatting." I say.

"You're welcome to stay here, Rineth. It's nice to see you well." Artemis says, smiling.

 

He takes the smiley.
"Thanks. And thank you."

And then I head off.

 

“Triple right wink will toggle weapons, though it will also power down any weapon if you don’t have a correct hand gesture. Make a finger gun for the infusion beam, center three fingers for melee, and a fist for artillery. The toggle will check for what gesture you’re holding, specifically on your right hand.”

Her scales feel cold and hard as stone, though they’re extremely smooth and feel vaguely like silk.
Fenira doesn’t respond to being pet, but seems to finally be relaxing.


Rineth nods to you, turning to Artemis again.
“I was given the day to rest, but I may need to visit your medical ward. Accelerated recovery would help a lot, especially since we lost a few other couriers last week.”

Getting back to Rema’s is pretty easy, if not a bit of an uphill hike.

When you get to her chamber, she’s stirring a purple brew in her cauldron.

 

"Alright."
I use my three fingers on my right hand and try for melee.

 

A green orb appears in your hand, wisps of energy floating around it.
“It’s momentum reactive, so the faster you swing or palm forward, the farther it lashes out.”

 

I toss it up and then catch it again, seeing how it reacts.

 

"What ya making?"

 

It seems to be anchored to your hand. A narrow energy beam flies up a few feet out of the orb before dispersing.
“If you try to hold the orb like a sword grip, it should convert itself into an energy blade with the whip’s traits.”

Rema glances up at you.
“Oh, the spirit-calling tonic is almost done. I’m just waiting for it to thicken a bit more.”

 

"Would detaching the orb create a problem?"
I ask, holding it like a sword.
