Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Well, I seem to be working fine.”

 

She flies through, trying to keep up with Gaia.


Rineth stands.
“Throne room?”

“It’s also some disaster mitigation. They’re situational, but sometimes you need that one odd trinket to survive something unfortunate.”

 

"I think I understand, but I'm not certain."

 

“That’s good. We’re almost done cleaning up with code and internal adjustments, so you’ll be out and on your way soon enough. Also, I might thank the other Thirteen, I don’t know how but he’s the one who wrote up the interface with your code.”

“Don’t worry about it. Think of it as peace of mind.”

 

Gaia's already quite a distance away once Fenira flies through, though she's easy to keep track of. After a bit of flying, Fenira's close enough to be heard.


The guards shake their heads.

"Allow me to take you to him." One of the guards offers, opening the gates for Rineth.

 

"Okay. I think I can do that."

 

“Lady Gaia?” Fenira calls, a bit winded.


Rineth nods, stepping through the gate.

“... I mean, you’re right about the trinkets being made by a dragon. That does help.”

 

Gaia turns, then smiles.

"Oh, hello! I didn't expect to see you up and about so soon." Gaia says happily.


The guard leads Rineth through the palace and out into the training grounds. Artemis stands nearby with her scythe and wooden armour, an arrow sticking out of her shoulder plate. In the near distance, I seem to be firing arrows at her which she needs to cut with her scythe before they hit. She appears to be doing quite well, though looks tired.

 

Fenira lands, catching her breath.
“I... I wanted to thank you... it feels so weird to be... relatively normal again... but really nice.”


Rineth turns to the guard and nods, waiting for you to stop before reverting into dragon form.

 

Gaia kneels down to be a bit closer to Fenira; though she's still massive.

"Well, I could hardly let you go on living like you were!" Gaia says happily.


"Oh, hey Rineth, didn't see you there." I say, a little surprised. Artemis offers a warm smile, pulling up her mask.

 

“Good to know. I could ask him.”

 

He snickers.
"Yep."

 

"I'd have thought my reality's Gaia would've told you... you know, why she left me the way she did."


“Glad to see you out of the medical wing. Did Shadow Stephanie ever make it out of hell?" He asks, nodding to Artemis.

"We already tried. He just muttered insults meant for you and left."

"In all seriousness, though, they are helpful to have around from time to time."

 

"What, the trinkets?"

 

Gaia shakes her head; a few petals falling from her hair in the process.


"Yes, but she's currently with Praecantatia. She was a lot less resillient to the...temptations. Praecantatia's been trying to free her of the demonic grasp it has on her for a while." I explain.

 

I chuckle.
"I'll try again, then."

 

Fenira looks a bit guilty.
"Do you have somewhere to be, or can I explain the full story?"


"Does Mortius not have control over the lingering effects of his realm on specific mortals?"

"You should be able to find him, you have a holonav with the ship map installed now."

"Yes. Situational at best, but helpful nonetheless."

 

"...Where would I access that?"

 

"I don't feel like they could do much though other then being a profit."

 

"I'm not busy." Gaia says happily.


"Apparently not. He seems fairly content in just laying back and guiding events, rather than taking control." I explain.

"Like a gentle breeze to the seeds of a dandelion." Artemis says.
