Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She catches their attention.

"Hi." One of the guardians says, smiling.

 

“Not particularly. Tell me about yourself.”

 

"Trying to pass the time anyways, so it's fine."

 

“Sorry to bother you, but where am I right now?”

“Well, I’m a hyperadvanced AI with a mildly tragic transition to code. I am Idhaenna’s de facto shadow, handling the busywork across the galaxy as well as acting as a universal database and navigation system. I have over 200 moons dedicated to processing power and many more dedicated to storage.”

“Would you perhaps like to make a trinket for yourself?”

 

“Huh.”
I relax, sitting down on the floor, then lying down with my hands behind my head.
“Ever get tired of it?”

 

“Yes, frequently. My job is my job, however.”

 

"Gaia's gardens! You must be new here, do you remember when you died?" The guardian asks.

 

“Yes, Gaia broke my curse by crushing me into dust. It wasn’t long ago, though I don’t know how time passes here.”

 

“...Do you know what I’m doing here?”

 

“You are here to be augmented under Idhaenna’s request, with the objective to destroy O’rogal’s glacial barrier.”

 

"Oh, well I'm sorry you had to die to get your curse removed." The guardian says, looking sympathetic.

 

“Better than dragging myself around with my guts hanging out.” Fenira shrugs. “Particularly nasty considering I was stuck in the shadow wilderness for a month trying to get here.”

 

"Oh, you poor thing!" The guardian says, sounding moved by Fenira's story.

 

She shakes her head.
“I had done terrible things to become cursed. I tried to get here to atone, not expecting to actually make it here.”

 

"Like what?" Another guardian asks.

 

"Can I?!"

 

“I was cursed with undeath for my foolish acts against another reality’s Gaia. I was young, yet should have known better. A plague tormented my family, and I read in books that Gaia might be able to help. I prayed, tried rituals, tried living by the code her followers wrote. Yet, she only appeared once I was the lone survivor of my kind. In my anger, I petrified her, held her there for a week. It’s been so long since then, and when your Gaia visited and showed me mercy, I knew I finally had my chance to atone.”

“You said you needed to kill time. Why not ?”

 

"Sure. I would love to."

 

"Another reality? What?" The water guardian asks.

"Well, there's that concept of each action having it's own timeline where things went differently, isn't there?" The fire guardian says, turning to the water guardian.

"Yeah but, isn't that parallel universes or something?" The water guardian asks.

The fire guardian thinks, looking confused.

 

“Ah... you’re unfamiliar with that. See, I’m from another reality, one where Gaia is only the god of earth and life, and there are other gods of water, fire, and air. It’s... also being hounded by someone trying to kill the gods, Gaia included.”

“Well, let’s get started with something simple. There’s a hammer and chisel on the shelf next to the exit, along with a few other tools. I’ll get the forge ready.”
