Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Are there bad people in the palace?”


“Strike at me and I will retaliate. However, your beasts are the engine of their own destruction. Had they left those petrified alone, I could undo their petrification. Your own beasts simply sealed their own deaths.” Fenira shrugs, stepping on one of her barely-attached heads to angle it towards the beast.

 

"No." The robot says.


This seems to infuriate Theombra. He raises his axe, preparing to strike Fenira. I get ready to parry the attack.

 

"Probably not. Got a lot to do."

 

“Then why would someone attack me?”


Fenira simply glances up slightly at Theombra’s head, her gaze cutting through him, any armor, any charms, and any runic magic he may be affected by as he feels his body rapidly turn to stone. The head she’s stepping on does the same to his beast.

“Oh, that’s too bad. There’s a sea serpent who often rests there, and he’s fairly nice to talk to.”

 

"I am not sure." The robot says.


The beast is turned to stone, while Theombra seems a little surprised for a second. He still seems to be able to move, and mostly unaffected.

"You really think your cursed magic can effect me?" Theombra asks, even more annoyed. He brings his axe down on Fenira, and I parry it again.

Theombra turns to me, annoyed. I seem to be about to act, before something speeds by and grabs me, taking me away.

"Hmph. No matter. Now you shall perish." Theombra says, turning back to Fenira.

 

"Got a name?"

 

“Oh... do you do anything else?”


“One with the earth element... I see. I promised never to do this again... but if you kill me, you will not be able to recover your beast.”

“Can’t remember, I haven’t been in a while.”

 

"No." The robot responds.


Theombra glances back at his beast.

"Worth it!" Theombra says, flashing a wicked grin and bringing his axe down on Fenira.

 

"Okay, then what's your name? I don't want to keep calling you Epsi if you don't want me to."

 

“Could you maybe wait outside and not stare at me?”


“Mercy...” She utters before her gaze cuts into Theombra so deep that his body is petrified despite his initial resistance to the petrification; deep enough to overpower any lingering connection to the earth element.

She, however, isn’t able to move fast enough to prevent the resulting axe-wielding statue from cutting into her.

“Oh, I thought you meant the serpent’s name. And Epsi’s fine, I guess. I’ve gotten used to it.”

 

“I... don’t intend to make a mess. That’s an awfully foreboding remark.”

 

"No." The robot repeats.


Fenira ends up having her petrification reflected, Eve quickly deploying an enchanted mirror to prevent herself from being petrified as she kicks Theombra out of the way and catches his axe. A large stone bird falls and smashes on the ground, having been flying overhead at the time.

 

"Yeah, I was talking about the serpent at first. But we quickly finished that subject."

 

Amethyst sighs, seeming to merge with her bedding.


Fenira unpetrifies it unintentionally with another head looking skyward, though she collapses after doing so.

“Oh... Not sure how we moved that fast, but alright. Pardon my misunderstanding.”

“You’re scheduled for a full augment, with optional refactored code. You’re going to be split into hundreds of pieces.”

 

The robot goes back to monitoring the room.


I fly down to Fenira as Eve glares at Theombra, who looks terrified by her.

 

Amethyst unmerges with her bedding and turns away from the robot before trying to go back to sleep.


Fenira looks drained and disheartened.
“I... promised to never do that again... yet I did, fearing for my life...” She utters.

 

It's quite easy to, the bed so comfortable it seems to even will for Amethyst's sleep.


"Don't worry, you're going to be ok. We'll...take you to Gaia, and she can heal you." I say, trying to comfort Fenira.

 

"Eh. Don't worry."

 

She shakes her head.
“No, I... I’m irredeemable. So close, too...”

Epsi nods, turning to comb through a box.
“Alright, let’s see if I have anything that may be of use to you...”

 

"Shh," I say calmly, "Our Gaia is different, she can help you."
