Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“You aren’t wrong. I was just making sure you were talking about what I thought you were.”

 

Alright.

Your beast form continues to stir the liquid, but nothing seems to be happening.

She lazily opens one of her eyes, seeming weary.
“Hello...?” She mumbles, seeming confused.

“Fair enough. Nothing’s more irritating to logic based thought processes than uncertainty... at least for me.”

 

"Morning, god of the vault." I say, smiling.

 

“How much... how long’s it been?” She asks, shifting around a bit before starting to stand up.

 

“I share the same sentiment.”
I nod.

 

"Hard to say. Time moves slower in here to make any break-ins easier to stop." I explain.

 

"Just wait for Rema, okay?"

 

"That explains... parts of my dreams, at least..."

Yeah, yeah, I'm waiting.

After another few minutes, Rema enters with a box of glass vials.
"Oh, it finished already? That was... unexpected."

"I don't know how bios accept uncertainty. It stresses them noticeably, yet they always continue to subject themselves to it... no matter. The inner ring is most stable during FTL travel, and a decent place to start for people who aren't used to the... odd effects of doing so."

 

"We should probably get out of here as soon as possible. Who knows what you might've activated by piling this stuff up." I say, looking around nervously.

 

“Elaborate.”
I say, curious.
“On these ‘odd’ effects.”

 

Looking around, you see Gaia's triggered just about any and every trap set... and doesn't have a scratch to show for it.
"Isn't trapping this place a little overkill? It's already impossible to get out."

"Mostly has to do with disorientation and unease. Bios don't seem to like the thought of disintegration if they continue to manipulate volatiles."

 

"Well, there are some pretty powerful artifacts in here. I don't want people using those." I say, walking over the piles of items and looking through them.

I pick up a strange, bluish-white ring and slip it on. I seem to become more transparent, before disappearing inside a statue that looks like a cat. The cat statue starts hovering, before meowing and spitting out a gold coin. The statue plummets back into the item pile as I leave it, taking off the ring and throwing it carelessly into the piles of items.

 

I shrug.
“Curiosity.”

 

"And a surprisingly equal amount of the lack of such behavior. Too variable, too random for my tastes. Too unfortunate, as well..." His voice seems to have gained a normal tone for a moment, but quickly resumes to its distorted tone near the end.

"It's like Emerald's Archive... just smaller." Gaia comments, keeping her eye on the ring.

 

"So it is finished? Great."

 

"I thought Emerald's archive was just books." I say, glancing over the piles of items, before fixating on something.

I walk over the piles of items to what seems to be a gumball machine, though fallen over. I stand it upright and pick up a nearby coin, inserting it into the coin slot and turning. Eventually a gumball spins down the machine and into the collection slot. I take the gumball and throw it in the air, catching it in my mouth and chewing it, before blowing a large pink bubble.

 

"A personal connection with the matter?"
I guess, generalizing.

 

“Yep! Though... was it really that hard to stir?”

Oh right, you can come back out now.

“Perhaps. That’s far from my current concerns, though. Plus, I can show you your living quarters. We expect you to be on board with us for a while.”

“Books, relics, artifacts, weapons, sealed godslayers, and probably more knowing her secretive nature.”


Amethyst peeks out of her bundle of fabric for a nearby guard.
“Hey, I finally finished. What day is it, anyways?”

 

I'll swap forms.
"Yeah, it got turned really thick after while. It got really hard to stir."

 

“Hmm... that’s a bit strange. It’s supposed to keep a consistent thickness until the very end... I guess I’ll need to find out what it does.” She shrugs as she looks over the potion.
