Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I mean me. You ever sit under the sun with a ton of fur? It feels like you're sitting in an oven.

Ruby checks for Vexa's soul to see if she's still asleep.


She's slow to react (or even move), but the ruin she controls isn't and rushes towards whatever's touching her.

 

Vexa seems to be sleeping peacefully, exhausted after yesterday's events.


A piece of already dead seaweed melts away into the water, some of it popping releasing a few bubbles as it does.

 

"No, actually. If I did, it would be you."

 

Go wrap yourself in a big quilt and stand out in the sun, then you'd know.

Ruby re-enters meditation.


Mary lazily moves her tail a bit to push herself around the island, her eyes barely open as she floats about.

 

"Good point."

 

After a while, Ruby senses Vexa get up and leave.


A few water guardians check on Mary, but don't disturb her.

 

Ruby scans the volcano, checking if she goes back.


Mary seems to be fine just floating about, though it looks as if she’s sleepswimming over anything else.

By the way, I don't recommend doing that. It's not fun, and it gets really uncomfortable really fast. Also you'll smell like a wet dog, or at least I do.

 

Veca heads back up the volcano, likely taking the orichalcum with her to continue work.


Nobody intervenes apart from the occasional forest guardian walking to shore to make sure she's not dead.

 

"I get it, having fur in warm weather is uncomfortable."

 

Ruby lets her do so on her own, keeping track of anyone who walks by the forge.


She appears half dead due to the ruin, but no more than she usually does.

Your girlfriend fox person is crazy. Like, having a fire inside of you? That seems super uncomfortable.

 

Ruby senses a curious soul approach the forge, waiting outside the front door.


Nobody else disturbs Mary, fish generally avoiding the ruin but not her entirely.

 

Ruby heads to the front door, checking to see who (or what) they are.


She winds up fully waking an hour later, a bit confused regarding her relocation but mostly uncaring.

 

"I mean... she's probably able to bear. Just like creatures made of fire, they aren't sweating."

 

A tall woman - about a head taller than Vexa - stands by the front door with her arms folded. She seems to be wearing a business suit, mostly black with a white undershirt. A pair of large reflective sunglasses covers her eyes, though she glances at Ruby once she arrives at the front door.


A water guardian glances at her as they dive into the ocean, but don't look back.

 

Sure, but then everything around her would feel cold.

Ruby blinks through the door.
“Hi, can I help you?” Ruby asks.


Mary eventually moves closer to the island and sits down on the sand, head barely above water as she lets the waves roll around her.

 

"Yes I'm...looking for weapons. This shop sells them...doesn't it?" The woman asks.


The waves foam and bubble as they crawl toward Mary, falling back into the ocean only to try again. Light glistens on the surface of the water as water guardians swim beneath it, some playing while others swim deeper.

 

“Yes, but my boss is currently out at the moment. Anything in particular you’re looking for?”
Ruby scans the woman’s mind to try and figure out her intentions.


Mary relaxes, content with the peaceful scene.


A mantis approaches the gates to the shadow palace, holding a vial but appearing lost.

 

A strong magic prevents the woman's mind from being read.

"Something that can...crush. Able to break bones." The woman says, thinking.


The guards look at her, but remain stoic and silent.

 

"Maybe it does. I never asked her how the temperature felt around her. Isn't really a question you ask to someone to be fair."

 

“I could go get my boss if you’d like.” Ruby says, albeit narrowing her eyes at the woman.


The mantis eventually approaches a guard and pauses, nervous.
“Uhm, the Matriarch told me to deliver this to the Shadow Palace, that the doctors could study it and maybe it would help with some magical virus she said was going around.” They say, offering the vial to the guard.

I guess. It just seems odd... I dunno. I don’t understand much about magic. You’re the brains here, anyways.
