Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The storm doesn't let up, volcano hissing as the freezing water evaporates on it's surface.


"Demigods? Blood oaths?" The chief asks, confused.

 

Ruby extends the shield a bit.


Mary shakes her head.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you. Don't worry about it, that matter ends in our favor."

 

After a while, Vexa stirs, sitting up weakly and looking upward.


The chief seems a little frustrated, but soon calms.

"Very well, I trust you'll continue to do your part." The chief says, smiling.

 

I'll fly back to the other town, the one with the ferret.

 

"Overdid it." Ruby says offhandedly.


Mary suddenly seems a bit worried.
"I mean... my role has been to keep to myself and keep the ruin contained... you sure there isn't anything more I could do around here?"

After what feels like hours, you arrive back at the city gates. The guards don't even stop you this time, simply waving as you pass overhead.

 

Vexa nods, looking at the Orichalcum with surprise.


"You've fulfilled your role well so far, and it's kept the others motivated to work. I will not ask of you more than you're capable of." The chief says.

 

Ruby glances at it as well, saying nothing.


Mary nods.
"I'll head back to the beach, then." She says, starting to turn to leave.

 

I'll wave back before heading inside.

"So.. shall we wake up now?"

 

It still looks like a flat club, and still warm.


The chief nods.

A few seagulls squawk overhead, one dropping a "present" for Mary.

 

"It rejects excess magic. Are you sure your kin have forged this in the past?"


Mary doesn't seem to notice, the droppings vaporizing to dust upon contact with the ruin.
She heads into the water, keeping the ruin she leaks in a bubble next to her as she watches the ocean below the surface.

Yeah. Let's... not do it in town, though.

 

"Oh yeah, cause we would disappear suddenly."

 

Vexa nods, taking slow breaths.


A few water guardians swim below the surface, monitoring the life of the ocean. More fish appear to be about, as well as a few turtles too.

 

“Should we call it a night?”


Mary keeps an eye on the turtles, seeming somewhat entranced.

Yeah, and we’d have to off ourselves. Doing that in the middle of town would probably scare a bunch of people.

 

"Gotcha. To the outskirt."

 

You fly back out into the plains, nobody in sight.

So... do we drop ourselves out of the sky, or what?

 

"Ofcourse not. We land."

I'll descend down.

 

Vexa nods again, heading over to the Orichalcum and picking it up.


The turtles swim about idly, some coming to shore and digging holes to lay eggs.

 

After landing, there's... nobody in sight.
Okay, then, what's your plan?

Ruby keeps the barrier above herself and Vexa, waiting somewhat idly.


Mary watches the turtles dig, opting to stray a bit further from shore to give them more space from the ruin.

 

"Let's go I would say. Back to the living world."

I'll wake up.

 

Vexa carries the orichalcum back to her shop, staying near to Ruby.


The turtles come and go, swimming off into the ocean again once they've laid their eggs. The sun begins its descent toward the ocean too as the moon begins to appear with it's stars.
