Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Wanna go around as a wolf until we leave town?"

 

The clouds are dark, bringing a storm with them. At their current distance though, they'll probably take a few hours to arrive though.


"What a strange vision. I've heard little of the events of humans and those pirates," The chief says, particular disdain in his voice when mentioning the pirates, "I'm certain we'll be left out of such events, however."

 

Ruby scans the clouds for traces of air-guardian-fuelled magic.


"We were, this had already passed. However, my undead sister was the one who spoke to me, said that the gods monitored everything... even so far as aiding in the rescue of... them."

Up to you, I don't really care. Just remember that I'm crazy and we need to not scare anyone if we can avoid it.

 

They appear to be partly assisted by air guardians, though mainly just to keep things in order.


"I do not understand the Gods sometimes...but we must have faith they know what they are doing." The chief sighs.

 

Ruby glances back down at Vexa.
"Should we try to beat the storm or no?"


"I'm surprised Mortius let my sister feed off the corpses in the aftermath. At home, she would've been chased off." Mary shrugs.

 

Vexa lets out a grunt as she picks up the hammer again and starts bashing away furiously.


"The god of death is certainly a mysterious one." The chief says, thinking.

 

Ruby applies the proposed heat of a tenth of the sun's to the orichalcum, keeping an eye on the storm.


"Well... I don't know what else to say about that. I guess they might come back to interrupt the peace we've had, though."

 

The Orichalcum heats up to a point, before suddenly rejecting the heat in a blast. Vexa holds her ground, unaffected as she continues to hammer.


"If they do, we won't let them leave." The chief says confidently.

 

"Alright. I'll just leave us in human form and exit town."

 

Ruby uses the feedback to keep the orichalcum as warm as possible, using excess energy to help Vexa keep a stable footing.


“They won’t hold back this time. They had fight in them despite being unable to move when the humans captured them, I fear we may have to be just as merciless to keep them here.”

Then we can be something with wings again. I hate walking that far...

 

Vexa keeps hammering away, exerting all of her energy before finally collapsing, passing out from the stress of work. The orichalcum doesn't look much different, either.


"They wouldn't be leaving here alive." The chief restates.

 

Ruby switches her efforts to project a barrier over the top of the volcano to help shelter Vexa from the storm.


“One final warning... if we kill them and their kids find out, we’ll have an angry water guardian at our necks... plus their shadow friends... and a demigod.” Mary sighs.

 

"Sure."

I'll imagine some wings.

 

After a brief moment of your shoulders being numb, you now have angelic wings.

This dream stuff is really wierd. No wonder everything’s guarded, anyone can be just about anything.

 

Vexa lays where she is, unconscious. The storm continues it's journey across the sky and toward the town.


The chief thinks for a while, a few plants growing around him as he does.

 

"I didn't really think angel wings, but it works."

I'll start flying.
"Where to?"

 

Ruby just waits, keeping an eye on the orichalcum and Vexa.


"I don't mean that to intimidate you, I just was told that they have friends in very high places... if my sister is to be fully believed, shadow royalty high places."

I dunno, every town looks the same to me. Plus, wings are wings, right? If we're flying, we're not walking.

 

"Sure. But I would rather have something more epic looking. Like dragon wings, or demon wings."

 

After a while, the storm finally hits, rain pouring down.


"It's certainly something to consider, we wouldn't want to damage our treaty with the Shadows. However, I won't stand by while my people are slaughtered by no-good pirates." The chief says, serious.

 

Ruby keeps the barrier up to keep Vexa and herself dry.


"My presence here may also be a deterrent to the demigod... once the pirates took her as their daughter, the blood oath of my service was transferred to them. With that oath broken, I have a fairly large say in consequences." Mary mumbles. "I suppose we can only hope for the best."
