"No doubt it'll have raised the suspicion of nearby earth guardians," Vexa nods, "We should get moving."

 

Ruby snaps her fingers and opens a portal leading to inside the forge.
"After you?"

"I was hoping you'd know. They said they were going to bring me back something, never said what and I've never found out."

 

Vexa cautiously steps through the portal.

 

Turns out it leads to a replica of the forge, Ruby going through with the orichalcum before closing the portal.
"This is an intermediary stop, a pocket dimension. If this chunk of orichalcum is cursed or something, I'm not bringing it into your actual forge."

 

"Ew. I'm sorry about that."

 

"You didn't know." Fybus shrugs. "Weird shit happens all the time. Usually it's unfortunate."

 

"Agreed. A lot of weird shit happens."

"..Like falling in love with your prey."

 

"Not where I was going with that, but yeah... that definitely counts." She smirks.

 

He laughs.

 

"Huh?" Vexa asks, panicked.

 

“The core formed itself into a golem, smirked at me. I’m not bringing it into your forge until I know it’s not going to find some other way to trash it.” Ruby says, taking the core out of stasis.

“Anyhow, you might want to get going. Been here about an hour now. It’s great to see you again, though.”

 

The Orichalcum just sits there, unmoving.

 

"It sure was. I'll be sure to come look for you tomorrow."

 

Ruby checks the orichalcum for traces of outside magic, ignoring any innate mana it has left.

"Let me know when your wedding is once you decide, alright?"

 

"Ofcourse. I'll be sure to remember."

 

It doesn't seem to have any outside magic affecting it; it just appears to have been part of the golem's body.

 

Ruby opens up a portal to the actual forge.
"Seems okay. It looked to be the golem's power source, though I must admit I didn't bother looking before overloading it."

"Maybe bring her here with you sometime, I'm curious about her now."

 

"If I can figure out how, sure."

 

Vexa nods, stepping through to her forge.

 

Ruby follows with the orichalcum in tow.

“Dream of her while she’s asleep.”
