Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Ruby sighs, nodding.
"I had a long history to make up for. I'm always ending up one step short, it seems." She grumbles.

 

"Well, the weapons you forged were certainly something different." Vexa says positively.

 

Ruby nods.
"I'll have my sister give you the last set of weapons once that time comes, then."

 

Vexa offers a hug.

 

Ruby accepts it, though she seems far from comforted.

 

Vexa pats Ruby on the back.

"It's a shame you must depart. I'm here for a rare and powerful metal, perhaps you could've made something from it." Vexa sighs.

 

"Tell me what it is, and it can be my final project."

 

"Orichalcum. Extremely rare and extremely strong. Earth guardians often spend a long time searching for it. I've heard rumours of there being deposits of it in a cave near here." Vexa explains.

 

"I guess I'll just try and help you find some before I need to go out into the middle of nowhere." Ruby shrugs.

 

Vexa smiles, before continuing through the forest.

 

Ruby silently follows, discreetly peeking into Vexa's thoughts.

 

"I won't. Just curious."

 

She seems to be quite depressed about Ruby's fate, though she also has her mind on Orichalcum too.

 

“I mean, you could try asking him. He doesn’t ever tell us, though.”

Ruby continues on, leaving Vexa’s thoughts to herself.

 

After walking for what seems like hours through dense forest, Vexa burns away a few vines covering a pitch-black cave.

"I believe this is where Orichalcum can be found." Vexa says, looking into the cave.

 

"I don't want to dig into someone's history if they don't want me to."

 

Ruby’s horns start glowing, illuminating the entry of the cave.
“Well, you’re the local. After you?”

“Fair enough. If you ask, you still give him the option not to tell, but fair enough. City folk say you can’t learn manners in the wild, but you sure seem to have.”

 

Vexa enters, summoning a fireball in her hand to illuminate the way ahead.

The cave is dark and damp, stalagmites rising from the ground and stalactites reaching down from the ceiling. Chunks of the walls appear to be missing where easily available ore once resided. Cold puddles are scattered about the floor, allowing cavern plant life to rise.

 

Ruby’s horns seem much brighter, managing to assist the fireball’s illumination if not outrighr improve it.

Ruby follows quietly, hovering above the ground and wary of the stalactites.
“How many people dig around here?”

 

"I might not get along with many people, but there are other things that happen."
