Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Neither guardian seems fazed.

 

Katie just remains frozen, feeling a little safer surrounded by her element.

 

She can see the faux water guardian gesture to the others to leave, the room soon vacated.

 

Katie remains frozen for a bit longer, before melting and falling to the ground, breathing heavily.

 

"Cause it's cool."

He smiles.

 

The faux guardian’s hand quickly recovers from being purple, and the air around Katie is near freezing without her needing to spend any energy.
“I didn’t mean to startle you.” He sighs.

“I feel like dragons wouldn’t make great pets, though...”

 

"T-This...isn't right." Katie mutters.

 

“That’s why we hide. We know it’s wrong... but we can’t just go over and ask people who kill humans on sight for help.” He sighs.

 

"We can't kill you, then we'd be as bad as you, but you shouldn't have our power." Katie mutters, struggling with the dilemma.

 

“You do know it’s not the same, right? You sort of gave me necrosis.”

 

"H-Huh?" Katie asks, looking up.

 

The faux guardian’s hand has a few deathly gray spots.
“We’re still human in the flesh, we just study elemental magic and attempt to mimic your culture. You could still burn one of the faux fire guardians alive, fairly easily as well.”

 

"W-Wouldn't that make you sorcerers then?" Katie asks, a warm bubble of water rising from the ground and surrounding the faux-guardians hand, slowly healing it.

 

"They do, apparently. He has a master, remember?"

 

The grey spots recede a bit, but parts of his hand don’t regenerate at all.
“Yes, that’s all we are, in simplest terms. Our fascination with guardians comes from their ability to undo the damage humans on your homeworld cause. We hoped that if we studied your ways enough, perhaps we would be able to heal the husk of the planet we have left.”

“I guess that kinda makes sense, if they tamed him. Still... if a pet that big wanted to wake you up, it could just, like, flatten your house.”

 

"Well, we're extensions of Gaia's will. She wishes for her planet to be cared for, so that's what we do." Katie says positively.

 

“Regardless of what you are, it’s what you do that made us give up what we have in hopes that our planet will heal. So, please, know we are all sorry for scaring you. We... hoped never to see a real guardian, to be honest. Fear and dilusion, I suppose are related.”

 

Katie just nods, taking some time to calm herself down.

 

He sits down across the room, looking at his hand but remains silent.

 

Katie keeps silent, occasionally glancing toward the exit.
