Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Sivius follows, footsteps silent.

 

Artemis dials a code into the elevator, and the pair are transported to a large hallway with a giant pair of guarded doors at the end. Artemis walks down the hallway, the guards opening the doors for her without even asking.

 

Sivius keeps following her, phasing through anything and everything if obstructed.

 

The doors close, a bedroom that seems to have been scaled-up quite a bit visible. Artemis walks over to one of the bed's posts, towering over her, and sits down.

"We won't be heard in here. The only people permitted are myself, Aj and our 'guests'." Artemis explains.

 

“Do you know how many godslaying weapons there are from my reality?”

 

"No." Artemis answers truthfully.

 

“Nineteen, with one partially sealed away in Oblivion. Foolish, really, but they did so anyhow. Anyhow, how many have you encountered or heard of?”

 

"Well.. those who are able to do telepathy are probably able to allow the reciever to talk back."

 

"To my knowledge, none yet." Artemis replies.

 

“I’ll start here, then... I hold two, and Mortius has had experience with two. There’s one held in... somewhat safe if not moody hands, and another two in addition to the ones Mortius encountered that are likely to cause problems. Do you follow so far?”

“No, in fact. If you aren’t capable of magic, you can’t willingly respond.”

 

"I don't know if I should believe you, but I probably should. Seems like you know more about mgi then me. I just know that it exists."

 

Artemis nods after a second.

 

“The four likely to cause problems I call the Rogues, just to give them a name. They’re under the influence of someone similar to the Hive Master, but not him. Said person has... issues... with your gods. My advice is, no matter who you need to beg to, make sure nobody makes any attempt to block the rift on this side. You... got lucky the first time the rift opened. Don’t roll the dice again - you likely won’t win.”

“We’re creatures of magic. I studied it, seeing as I kept going berserk in the middle of the day.”

 

"Yeah.. that happened to me before. Usually when I get hungry or tired, cause then my wolf side is stronger."

 

"Why shouldn't we block the rift?" Artemis asks.

 

“The rift, once opened, is nearly impossible to close. In fact, the rift itself is a link between realities, itself bridging through nullspace and nothingness. If you block it, think of it like trying to plug up an indestructible hose... except instead of water spraying everywhere when the plug fails, you’re ripping a supermassive hole in the fabric of your reality. It will constantly send things back and forth, mostly to keep itself stable. The longer it’s stable, the safer it is. Blocking it will cause one-sided instability and relocate the rift randomly after a cataclysmic leak into nullspace.”
Pause.
“If that went over your head, that’s fine. It’s something that concerns the gods a fair bit more than you, anyways.”

“My wolf side was uncontrollable. I only just started learning how to use magic to keep it in check before you... took that one contract.”

 

"Essentially, don't block the rift otherwise 'null' will start taking over our reality?" Artemis says, "I know of 'null', but I've never understood it."

 

“Close enough. Null is... hard to understand, in fairness. Think of it like a place where nothing can exist under normal circumstances. It’s sort of like a totally uninhabitable place, but for realities instead of life.”

 

"I think I got my wolf side under control pretty well. That is, if I'm not hungry of sleepy."

 

Artemis just shrugs.
