Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Avis keeps an eye on Onyx as Ihra leaves the cryoroom, holding the door ajar for Onyx.

 

Onyx darts out the room after Ihra, scared.

 

"Oh, what's that you're looking at?"

 

Avis peeks out at Onyx but stays in the cryoroom before Ihra shuts the door on her.

“There’s a watch under my fur.”

 

"A watch?"

 

Onyx stays by Ihra's side, obedient.

 

Ihra reaches down to scratch her behind the ears.
“No more monsters in there, don’t worry.”

“Like, it tells you what time it is. A tiny clock you can wear... have you never seen one?”

 

"No. How long have they been around?"

 

Onyx purrs appreciatively, rubbing up against Ihra's leg.

 

"Longer than you've been alive. I guess you have spent a lot of your time with actual wolves, though..."

Ihra smiles, letting Onyx do cat things for a bit before standing up straight again.
"Alright, I need to go help Emerald with something. Go say hi to Artemis for Sgavrinn, would you?"

 

"That's a solid reason. I didn't need them, so I never saw them."

 

"They're more of a city folk thing, and those pretty much stayed razed after the war."

 

"I'm not a city person. I know that much."

 

"You should consider getting one. In the real world, I mean... a watch wouldn't help you here too much."

 

"I don't know where to get one though. And I don't have tons of money to spend, if that's what you're thinking."

 

Onyx meows, wanting to follow.

 

“No, Onyx, Shadow Stephanie didn’t give that monster what it wanted. Little did I know that cooperating with... it... would have been for the best. I’m going to go handle what it tried to stop... hopefully.” Ihra says, completely losing her cheery attitude.

“You’re a mercenary, so coin should be easy to get... or, if you’re planning a wedding, those are expensive so your wife probably has spare coin.”

 

"She has, now that I think about it."

 

Onyx looks hurt, laying down with sad eyes.

 

Ihra bends down and pets Onyx again.
“It’s okay, she had no way of knowing. I wouldn’t have even agreed to what she had in the first place, but I guess she’s just braver than I am.”

“I mean, she is a kitsune. It’s probably not all hers.”
