The table seems to refuse to budge, Eve's joints experiencing severe feedback as EBB looks over again.
"Don't trigger the automated innate defense here."

"So, she's a somewhat magical fox. And, just to make sure I'm not confused, you're talking like the sit-on-your-shoulder fox?"

 

Eve simply puts up a magical barrier around her as a secondary form of protection.

 

EBB just goes back to scanning its book.

 

Eve keeps the shield up, leaping back away from EBB.

 

It glances at Eve, but doesn’t move again.

 

Eve keeps an eye on EBB, cautious.

 

"Yes. And yes, she's about that size."

 

The next thing EBB does after it finishes scanning the book is go off and grab another.

“So... how’d you even meet her?”

 

"During a fire in the forest? No wait, I met her earlier. Oh yeah, the pack told me about an intruder that was in our territory. That's how I met her."

 

“So you decide to marry the first magic fox you see? That kinda sounds like a love spell to me.”

 

"That's sounds familiar. But I hope not."

 

Eve watches, keeping herself ready to move.

 

"You should get Rema to look into it."

EBB winds up just flying away after it finishes scanning the second book.

 

Eve watches EBB leave, waiting for a while after it's gone.

 

"Right...? Why?"

 

"She's pretty good at finding traces of magic, like little bits of mana left over from spells."

The only other person to go in or out of the library is Ihra, who enters and moves towards the shadow realm portal.

 

Eve leaps over to Ihra, covering the distance to her in a single jump.

 

Ihra seems a bit startled before lowering an unseen barrier.
“Hey, what’s gotten into you?”

 

"I'm making sure you are protected, you're a high-priority being." Eve says.

 

“What’s happening back in the Shadow Realm?” Ihra asks, suspicious.
