Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Alright, come on. Let's start with metanano, then." She says, approaching the third door as it opens.

 

Eve follows obediently.

 

Once inside, giant machines contrast small objects moving themselves as well as objects repairing themselves after being hit with various tools. There's also a giant water tank with a few objects floating, though it's obvious that they should sink.

 

Eve looks around, taking it all in and recording it.

 

Various creatures, several humans, and a few of the metallic creatures (that appear to all have hideous reaction times) are visible working with the objects, some at computers or holodecks and manipulating code that's written in some sort of font that Eve can't recognize.
"So, metanano is sort of what it sounds like, another layer of nanotech. Nanobots for nanobots, maybe for nanobots if you've got the budget."

 

"While it is a possibility, I didn't consider the fact that a species would make nano bots for nano bots. Mainly due to the fact that nano bots do not usually require themselves." Eve says emotionlessly.

 

"Unless your budget is low they don't, but recreating them so they take up even less space is fantastic. Of course, subatomics are a pain, but it's not like we're strapped for cash here."

 

"Why not simply create smaller nanobots if the goal is space efficiency? Nanobots for the nanobots themselves seems wasteful, unless you have extreme value over said nanobots." Eve says.

 

"Just reduces repair costs. Less materials, lower price in this case. Further reductions are a happy side effect we didn't totally intend on."

 

"Wouldn't the repair cost of a nano-nanobot be far greater due to the tools required to operate on such a level?" Eve asks.

 

"Nope. A tiny wrench is still a wrench."

 

"Mhm. But what else can you do here? Anyway to pass the time?"

 

"True, but it is far easier to build a large automobile than it is to build a tiny one." Eve says.

 

"Depends on what's building it. Just know that we're at the point where nanotech's cheaper than something big."

"Not really. Days are long, nights are longer."

 

"Maybe for you, but not for me."

 

Eve takes note, and doesn't pursue the topic anymore.

 

"What do you do, then?"

"If you wanted bigger stuff, you should've stuck with Idhaenna."

 

"I do not want bigger stuff." Eve says.

 

"For me the days are longer. Night passes without me noticing when I'm sleeping."

 

"In that case, can you see subatomic particles?"

"Yeah... I wish I could sleep and let time just pass. At first, you realize just how much time you lose while asleep, but later on you get... weary. You wish for a break, something to make time pass by."
