Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Dark magic, gotcha. Thank you."

He leaves the door.

 

The guard tries to track where Iris blinks to, angry.

 

That answer would be to the palace gate, hanging off of it upside down with her tail.

The mayor heads off to another room as a guard closes the door.

Fybus yawns.
"Well, did you get your answer?"

 

The guard appears above Iris, attempting to kick her off the gate as the other guard draws her weapon.

 

His foot phases through as Iris smiles at the other guard.
"Oh, come on, you saw what just happened. You're not really going to try it too, are you?"

 

The ground guard just whistles, guards along the walls readying crossbows all aimed at Iris, their bolts seeming to distort the area around them.

 

"Alright, go ahead. I've overstayed my welcome, I'll just bump up my price."

 

The guards all fire at Iris, the bolts seeming to drain her magic even before they hit her, and the bolts dig into her no matter what. One of the first bolts seems to attach something with it, and Iris' teleportation abilities feel suppressed.

 

She just hangs there, picking out the bolts as if she's completely unharmed.
"Go on, make me change my mind about telling the king who it is." She says.

 

The bolts keep coming, and their effects keep getting stronger.

Eventually a guard in what seems to be a protective suit runs along the wall, the guards moving back as he aims what looks like a syringe and fires it at Iris' chest.

 

"Alright, happy hunting. If you find it and get rid of it, let me know and I'll let you actually kill me, because you totally can't do it."
Iris waves at the guard with the syringe, somehow managing to vanish despite the drain and nullmagic.

 

One of the other guards catches the syringe before it hits anything, delicately handing it back to it's owner.

 

Iris seems to have actually left this time.

 

A short while later, one of the guards ventures into the void palace, heading to the library. Eve follows him through, though heads to Xlentia's chambers.

 

Emerald isn't present in the library, from what the guard can tell.


Xlentia seems to have dozed off, face buried in a rhythmically whistling pile of gold.

 

The guard searches the library for Emerald, before inquiring the first person he sees if she isn't found.


Eve sits down near to the entrance, entering a low-power state and waiting for Xlentia to awaken.

 

That would be a dryad.
"She's off working on breaking a line of nullmagic. We're finally getting significant ground against Atavul, which means the backdoor to O'rogal is cracking open."


After a few days, Xlentia stirs, getting up and stretching.

 

"When will she likely return?" The guard asks.


Eve awakens from her low-power state, clearing her throat after she gets up in an attempt to get Xlentia's attention.

 

"Yeah. Now I just need to find the right person to help me."

"Do you know anything about the Void?"

 

Xlentia notices her mid yawn.
"Oh, how long were you waiting?"
