Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, you're right. They were extremely powerful guardians, 'pure' guardians I called them. They were masters of their element, and protected the Earth in my name. But...they had to be sealed away. You see, the Earth has a lot more history than it may seem. Humans have had to...take steps back in the past. Temporus foresaw them using the powers of the guardians to oppose us, overthrow us and tear apart not just the universe, but the fabric of our reality as a consequence. The human's bonds had grown strong with the guardians. Many guardians worked with humans to help expand their cities or develop new technology, yet the humans we always conspiring against them. When the first signs of the opposition began to show, we banded together to seal the pure guardians away so they couldn't be used, and put an end to the opposition before it could fully start. Many of the guardians and humans had been convinced we were tyrannical gods, and evil force to be defeated, so...we did what we had to," Gaia explains, "We hid the pure guardians away from mortal contact, so they couldn't be released and used for such power again. When they are found and released...I can only hope the time is right, humans do seem to have changed a lot..."

 

"So it's like a Hive Master scenario with less mind control, but you caught it early on?" Fable asks. "No offence, just... trying to process."

 

"It's possible to liken it to that. I...don't like thinking about what I had to do to my children though." Gaia says, sighing.

 

"Speaking of waking up, I should probably do so soon."

 

Fable pauses.
"Why are you telling me this, just after forbidding me to continue trying to research them?"

"Don't short yourself on sleep. It... sometimes lets out the beast inside you didn't know you had."

I swear I'm alone, as far as I'm aware.

 

"Because...I realised I acted wrongly." Gaia admits.

 

Fable hesitates.
"There's nobody to judge your reactions, though. That, and I have no feelings to hurt."

 

"Yes, but I am the Goddess of Life. It would be wrong if I didn't follow the morals I promote." Gaia says.

 

Fable thinks for a bit... or, at least, doesn’t respond.
“My apologies for troubling you. I had some doubts about coming here in the first place.”

 

"You weren't a trouble at all. Contact me whenever you have need." Gaia says happily.

 

“These flowers, right?” She asks. “And just to clarify, no more research on really old sealed guardians, and no knocking on the ground if I think there’s an emergency?”

 

"Yes. The flowers created by my forest guardians will allow me to hear you much easier." Gaia says positively.

 

“Alright. And did I get your requests right?”

 

"Indeed." Gaia says.

 

“Alright. If you decide on a wielder... well, uh... I’ll try to find one myself. I’m near an earth guardian village, I think. Wait, no, I need a different one, I think I got kicked out of one...”

 

"I shall inform you if I find a child worth of wielding you." Gaia says, before Fable feels the connection fade. The flower drains, before blooming.

 

"Well, it's not that I'm afraid of waking up too soon. I'm afraid of waking up too late, if you get me."

 

Fable steps out, seeming a lot less confused than when she went in.

“Sleeping in a bit never hurt anyone.”

 

The forest guardian who led her to the church seems to have left, though the rain seems to have calmed down a bit.

 

She tries to leave, attempting to nudge the door open with her foot if necessary.
