Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I don't want to say."

"I... I'll leave the decisions up to you."

 

"That's alright; I understand you want to keep some things private." Katie says happily.

"I'll let you choose when we head to Brisingr, you might need to gather your thoughts for a bit." Stephanie says.

Abigail looms over the group, "Ready to fly when you are." She says.


"Well, maybe it won't come to that. If I can free Xlentia soon enough, maybe she won't take Ihra like that." I say, a slight amount of hope in my voice

 

"Wait. "
"What?"
"What if that was how we freed Xlentia? Sacrificing me?"

 

"Don't make me choose between you and Xlentia, Ihra" I say through Ragnyon, "A beings life is an expensive thing to gamble with. If you would willingly give up your soul to free Xlentia, however, I won't stop you."

"Maybe you could fight the corruption plauging Xlentia with the purity of your soul; but getting you back might be tough." Artemis says.

 

"I dunno... That part isn't written in my mother's will. I do want to try this, though..."

She holds her staff in the center of the ring of tomes. The crystal glows with power, then she absorbs the charge in her body.
The tips of her horns glow blue.

She does it again, and her horns entirely glow blue.
"This feels funny."

 

Artemis seems confused, "What are you doing?" She asks, puzzled.

Katie seems appreciative of the blue colour.

 

"My mother's tomes call it charging. Apparently, I can store Miznyana's power in my body. Though it never leaves unless I use it, I can't absorb too much at once, or I'll melt myself. But each charge has the equivalent power of Radiant, or that blast of light magic that crystallized Aj when we met. I don't know how many charges I can hold maximum, but apparently my horns will incidate how close to... adverse effects... I am."

 

"Oh yeah, I remember that." I say through Ragnyon.

A memory appears in Ragnyon's mind. Everything seems to be incredibly bright, and I appear to be burning away. I crystallise a rock in my hand and possess it, viewing the light from what looks like inside of the crystal.

"That's quite a bit like what I do. I store my magic in crystals to assist me with spells later." Stephanie says, her hands glowing white.

Stephanie raises her hand to Katie, and a small gust of wind is sent toward her; blowing her hair back. A few crystals begin to appear and levitate around Stephanie, glowing brightly. Stephanie raises both her hands, and a violent blast of air is sent towards Katie. Katie jumps out of the way as the air picks up some of the ground and carries it quite a distance away. The crystals fall to the ground; rather dull.

 

"Interesting. Apparently if I hold enough charges, I can use abilities from previous wielders of the tomes and Miznyana. One tome mentioned a spell that required 50 charges... I wonder what it is."

 

"Try it out and see!" Katie says excitedly.

Stephanie picks up her crystals and replaces them with two much larger, dull looking ones. She starts to focus, and one of the crystals starts to turn yellow. It crackles with energy.

 

"I can't. I mean, it uses fifty charges. I have two. I'd like to think I learned how to count in that crystal."

 

"Maybe you could use mage crystals to your advantage." Stephanie says, de-summoning the charged crystal and charging the other; it too turning yellow.

The energy seems to crackle a lot more on one side of the crystal; it looks like it's slightly cracked. Stephanie doesn't seem to notice.

"Wouldn't we need crystals large enough to hold all that magic though?" Artemis asks.

"How much magic is in a 'charge' anyway?" Katie asks.

 

"Let's find out. Stephanie, can I try using one of those crystals?"

 

"Sure thing." Stephanie says, de-summoning the crystal.

Stephanie raises her hands, and a large crystal, about half Ihra's size, appears in front of Ihra. It seems to be rather dull.

 

Ihra charges the staff then tries to imbue the crystal with energy.

The crystal melts, then solidifies into dust.
"Erm... I don't think I want that happening to me."

I sprout near Ragnyon. "Psst, I need to tell you something in private. Maybe you can try to get Aj out of your body for a few moments?" I whisper.

 

"Possibly." She tells you telepathically."

---In Xlentia's Palace---
You hear a conversation in the distance.
"The prisoner's gone."
"What?! Where did we lose her?"
"I bet when they reached out to her, our control broke."
"Damnit. Find her and take her back here!"

 

OOC: This is in Xlentia's Palace btw.
I whisper to one of the Draconians nearby, "I overheard that a prisoner has gone missing...is this prisoner Ragnyon, The Last Prophet?"

 

"You know of her? We needed her to allow us to see what our opposition would try. We spilled her blood and stored it, stabbing her in the neck. She's been unconscious since, and we've been waiting for the day she recovers. I'll be furious if we miss it, we're running out of her blood, thus we'll be vulnerable. So much for her perfect record, the future isn't used to being predicted... heheheh..."

 

I remain silent, contemplating what to do. It seems Im having some kind of internal battle between my morals. I tell the Draconian, in an almost whisper voice, "I know where she is."

I quickly say to Ragnyon, sounding panicked, "The other Draconians! They're after you! You have to get out of here fast! They're going to get you!" It seems I'm having a nervous breakdown.
