Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The referee whistles to an earth guardian making a punching motion. The earth guardian nods, getting a pair of blue boxing gloves out from a box and throwing them to Fable.


"Can I take a moment to discuss things with my husband?" Aquira asks.

 

Fable puts them on.
“Is that it?” She asks.


“Take a year, I don’t care.” They shrug, a cutlass visible around their waste as their shoulders raise.

 

The referee nods and a bell is sounded. The referee takes to the sidelines as Fable's opponent enters the ring; an extremely strong looking Earth Guardian who takes one look at Fable and laughs.

"This'll be easy." Fable's opponent says with a gruff voice.


Aquira walks over to Sidus, talking with him for a long while and seeming somewhat stressed.

 

“You might want to strike first... I dunno how strong you are.” She says, entering a defensive stance.


Kiin eventually tiptoes slightly closer to try and eavesdrop.

 

Fable's opponent waits a bit to strike.

"Boo!" Fable's opponent shouts, trying to throw her off before attempting a left hook.


"-eady populated enough, and we ran a guardian ship before." Aquira says.

"It'd be hard to just replace them with desired crew members though. Maybe they're better than other guardians?" Sidus says.

"Oh, please. The only reason the blue amber sank was because the forest guardians were overloaded and targeted. I don't think they can repair ships as well, or would be as obedient." Aquira says.

 

"And where is the central keep?"

 

Fable counters by putting her gloved thumb between the strike, which results in the earth guardian being thrown into the ring walls at the speed of sound.
“Ah shit, you looked heavier!” She grumbles.


Kiin keeps still, hoping to overhear more.

“Big castle in the middle of town. Really hard to miss.”

 

The rope around the ring snaps and Fable's opponent is sent crashing into the crowds.

The referee steps in, "Whoa whoa whoa, what the hell are you doing!? No telekinetic powers allowed!" He says, annoyed.


"I feel like I've lost my status as a pirate, having to care for Kiin now. Katie could be hidden away, Kiin's more likely to be hunted down." Aquira says, disappointed.

"It's alright, darling. We'll get sailing again soon." Sidus says with a comforting tone.

 

"Got it."

"Which way?"

 

“I’m incapable of using magic!” She responds, flustered. “I can’t even use telepathy!”


“I could just go back to the cave I was in for a few months.” She offers, butting in.

They point to the blatantly obvious castle with a tower sticking out of the middle.

 

"Then what the hell did you just do!?" The referee asks.


Aquira seems surprised.

"Oh, no no sweetie it's alright." Aquira says in a more motherly tone.

 

“I poked his fist with my thumb!”


“But you always sailed before. Why am I different now?”

 

"And you sent him flying across the ring!?" The referee asks.


"Don't worry about it sweetie." Aquira says, smiling.

 

“I didn’t want to punch him, I was worried that would happen! Hell, you could put me in a nullmagic field if you don’t believe me!”


Kiin narrows her eyes.
“Why don’t you want to go sailing anymore?”

 

"Then why did you enter a boxing match!?" The referee asks.


"What?" Aquira asks, confused.

 

“I was told earth guardians were strong, and I wanted to know how strong!”


Kiin approaches and pokes at Aquira’s hand.
“You seem different now.”

 

"What, so you thought you could just punch one halfway across the globe!?" The referee asks.


Aquira seems offended, before her expression turns to anger.

"Kiin, go to your room. Now. You're not to leave until I say." Aquira says.

"Calm down, it's alright Aquira." Sidus says, putting a hand on Aquira's shoulder.

"It's not alright, Sidus!" Aquira says seriously, slapping his hand away, "I'm not going to become some weak...mother who isn't a pirate! We used to be feared, even by our own crew. I'm not different, I'm the same, and I'm going to get my crew back."

 

“I didn’t mean to, that’s why I used my thumb!” She protests.


Kiin hugs Aquira.
“I love you, mum...” She says before heading inside.

 

"Ugh, just...get out." The referee says, rubbing his head.


Aquira storms off, unphased.

 

She takes off her gloves.
“Sorry.” She sighs, walking out with her hands clasped behind her back.


“Looks like you’ll need another round of luck.” The draconian on deck snickers, looking straight at Sidus.
