Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Onyx nods.

"they put a furlse clone in their place and had dagger claws!" Onyx says.

 

"Then what wyvern are you talking about? The one that took me to the cave?"

 

Xlentia's tone suddenly becomes serious.
"Go home, right now. He can't get you there." She snaps, opening a small portal in front of Onyx.

"Yes, blue scales, you just spent a few nights with him. Just follow the blue glow, hard to miss."

 

Onyx runs through the portal, scared.

 

As it closes, one of the dagger claws grazes Onyx's ear.
"Better be good at hiding..." His static-ridden growl echoes in her mind as the portal closes.

 

Onyx holds her ear, running.


Eve soon returns to the void palace with Shadow Stephanie, now dressed in her more casual attire.

"-be safe there. Nobodies managed to ever break into it." Shadow Stephanie says.

"Well, she informed us that Xlentia seemed to know about them, so we should see her." Eve says.

Shadow Stephanie and Eve head to Xlentia's chambers.

 

Xlentia's facing Emerald, in a telepathic conversation.
"...They're back."
Emerald turns.
"I feel like there's a whole book on stuff spinning off of the phrase 'curiosity killed the cat.' I assume she's alive, though... else we have bigger problems."

 

"She's alive. Access to where she's hiding is impossible. There are also plans to move her under a god's control should things worsen." Eve says.

"What are we dealing with here?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

"Alright. Where should I start?"

He looks around for a blue glow.

 

"So, what you found is a weapon that... really shouldn't be up and moving on its own right now." Emerald says bluntly.
"Before we even bothered with mortals for company, us high gods made... those... to stop ourselves if we got out of hand. We had a much stronger sense of duty back then, and now... well, long story short, your cat thing found a godslayer incarnate."

The other branch in the cave has a blue glow coming from it, though it seems to be from a small magically-lit torch.
"Just follow anything blue until you find something blue that's moving."

 

"What power does it possess?" Eve asks.

"How do we stop it?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

"Like that torchlight?"

He says, pointing at the blue light.

 

"Yep, that means you're on the right path. It'll appear red on your way back, so you can get back to me."

"The power depends on the weapon, and there's no way to tell what it is until someone or something draws it out to fight."
"There's two ways to stop it. One, you can try to break it or seal it, or even render it inert... but that's the hard way, considering they were made by all six high gods. The other way is to appease it and become its wielder. So... kind of a lose-lose if you don't want to piss off your own gods."

 

"Onyx described it as a person. Does this 'weapon' act like a mercenary then?" Eve asks.

 

"It... can. I don't know which one it is, which doesn't help." Emerald grumbles.
"They shouldn't. The only things they should know are who they're meant to kill and the personality of the mortal who hid them away initially."

 

The giant gives a thumbs-up with his non-Ted hand, then scratches Ted on the head as he leans against the wall.

 

"Really? That's quite impressive magic."

 

"Why would they go after Onyx then?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

Eve stays silent, seeming to calculate something.

 

“It’s simple, really, but hurry. It loses potency the longer you take to apply it.”

Both the dryad and fae sigh, starting to proceed on towards the spire.

Ted closes his eyes and rubs up against your free hand as you scratch him, content.

“They wanted to be kept a secret. Clearly that failed...” Xlentia mumbles.
“I’m checking the archives for anything, with that narrowed search. Secretive and vengeful; while fairly common traits, it’s a start.”

 

"Right. Right. I'll go give this to him."

Bardock heads for the blue light and quickly gets out of the room.
