Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“It’s okay. You tried.”
The giant looks back to the other two.
“Ted doesn’t have any input.”

 

Anne nods.

“Just leaving the door open.”
Pause.
“Sorry to go without much introduction, but my time here is short. Might you be able to help me get back towards Earth to visit with Mortius and Gaia? I don’t want to bend your reality that much.”


She keeps an eye on the petrified beast, untrusting.

“Are you adopting that... thing?”

Ted doesn’t appear to have any input on that suggestion either.

 

"Oh wow. What else can you do that I don't know off?"

 

"Make people fall in love with me, see illusory scenes or things that aren't there, hypnosis..."

 

"Did you use that on me? The fall in love thing?"

 

"Nope. I also can't use it on myself, so I knew it was actual love."

 

"I see."

 

Caelia thinks for a moment, suddenly looking at Idhaenna suspiciously.

"Very well." Caelia says. Idhaenna begins to feel lighter, space bending around her before she finds herself in a field. It's a warm sunny day, and a chess table made out of logs and a treestump occupies a pair of people; playing the game it's intended for. It's hard to tell who they are from a distance, but Idhaenna can clearly make out a - rather beautiful - female. A calm breeze blows by, carrying fresh flowery scents.

 

“No. Once I peel the flesh off of my hand, Ted will probably starve, and or suffocate.”

 

"That does make me wonder what happens if I do that to someone who's already in love..." Anne mumbles.

Ted whimpers once again, bending up to lick the hand it's stuck on.

Idhaenna seems confused, but heads towards the two anyways - albeit entranced by the scent.

 

As she gets closer, Idhaenna can more clearly see the features of both people. The woman appears to have a devilish tail and bat-like wings, as well as curled horns protruding from her head. A skeletal man in a black cloak plays with her, only visible from his bony hand moving a piece. The woman appears frustrated as she loses a piece.

 

"Don't do that. You shouldn't mess with other relationships."

 

"No, no, no, don't like the hand, you'll get your tongue stuck."
The giant daintily pinches Ted's mouth to close it slowly.

 

Idhaenna approaches them but leaves some distance between them, glancing at her bracelet again before waiting, watching the game play out.

Ted's tongue slowly retreats through its teeth.
"That is the new strangest thing I've seen." The dryad sighs.

"I mean if I did it to you."

 

It seems to be anyone's game, but the cloaked figure is taking the offensive lead; much to the demonic woman's frustration.

 

"Exactly what I was thinking. Now I don't want Ted to die."
The giant seems surprised with himself, then whispers to Ted.
"Is there any way of getting rid 'a that smoke stuff?"

 

Ted looks at you with confusion before wagging its tail a bit.
"I doubt you're going to get anything from that dog, except maybe a housepet."

Idhaenna gets a bit closer, aiming to get a better look at the board.

 

"Damn."
He says aloud, then goes back to whispering.
"You're doing great, Ted, keep it up."

 

The woman's queen is in a bad spot, and her king has been left lightly defended. Mortius is missing most of his pawns, a rook and both of his bishops, but his knights are in good places. The woman seems to be carefully planning her next move, before briefly glancing at Idhaenna. She looks back to the board, before looking back to Idhaenna.

"Uh, are you here for Mortius? Or did you manage to escape somehow?" The woman asks, her teeth sharp.

 

She takes a step back.
"My apologies for interrupting, I was hoping to introduce myself to Mortius before my break's over." Idhaenna says with a small bow.

Ted keeps wagging his tail, letting the rest of his body relax again.

The dryad rolls her eyes.
"Come on, this is an invasion, not a run to the pet shop."
