"Yeah, your cheeks are all messy."

 

Alice smiles.
“I would rather show you. Please, allow me to get this over with.”

“Oh, and you have chocolate on the edge of your lips, mister squeaky clean.” She retorts, licking frosting off her whiskers.

 

"Very well, but I must talk with Tenebrae first." Mortius says, before seemingly disappearing, leaving Alice in the grassy field.

 

"No, I mean, who the hell lets a mind-controlled person go see a family member?"

 

"Hmm?"

He licks his thump and cleans his mouth.

 

Alice nods, waiting idly.

“That’s better. You still have a little spot on your cheek.” Anne says, looking at the right side of your face.

“That’s only rare if one is controlled and one isn’t.”

 

After a while, Mortius returns, appearing suddenly.

"A new decision has been made regarding your fate. Something...better." Mortius says.

 

Alice seems uneasy.
“Oh?”

 

"We believe it will benefit us all in this situation. After all, you, or rather Alice, isn't from this reality." Mortius says.

Mortius begins to fade away, as everything around Alice seems to melt into nothing.

 

“Wait, what do you mean?” She asks, nervous.

 

"There's no need to be afraid. Nothing bad will happen." Mortius says, before disappearing entirely with the environment around him.

Alice floats...or, exists in nothing. There is no colour, not even black or white. Nothing exists at all, and Alice feels herself starting to stop existing too.

 

“Mother, how dare you turn on me...”
“Thank you, I can finally rest...”
Alice and her split self mutter simultaneously before becoming nothing.


A harpy with bracelets, anklets, and a necklace glides over Alice’s hometown, looking at her house from above.

 

"Yeah, and nigh-impossible if both are controlled."

 

The house is decorated with flowers and memorials, nobody seeming to be present. Gail watches the harpy from below, blue ice cream in her mouth.

 

They fly down towards Gail.
“Seems like it’s been a rough day in a nice place.” She says, though her face is obscured with a holographic mask.

“Extremely common, particularly as a trap.”

 

"We lost a member of our town. Suicide." Gail says, pulling the ice cream from her lips.

 

"Still, he gave us some useful information."

 

“I’m sorry to hear that. Did they leave a will?”

“If it’s true. We’ve yet to verify.”

 

"Last time I checked, the closer something gets to melting, the more it glows a nice molten color."
He points out.

 

“I meant the spire thing. We could derive the molten rock ourselves.”
