Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Gaia nods, closing her eyes.

He nods, a bit nervous.

Pause.
“Yeah, why?”

“There’s a bunch of creatures immune to poison, though. I wonder if they eat poison berries.”

 

“Okay, yeah, it’s your friend.”

“Tell him that Aspen and the giant tell him to shut the fuck up for his own safety.”

 

"If they are immune to it, they could. It's just another source of food for them."

 

Gaia feels the petals of the flower close in around her. Gaia then feels a liquid slowly rising inside of the flower.

 

Her presence amplifies the effects and strength of the flowers around her, albeit unintentionally.

“I still wonder how they taste.”

“Oh... shoot.”

“Do you want me to let him go?”

 

"Poisonous, probably."

 

“Yeah. My friend’s got your friend.”

“No, he’s a runner. We might need him, also.”

 

After a while, Gaia feels a connection open.

"Hello, me." Gaia says cheerily.

 

“But does all poison taste the same?”

“Oh... grand.”

“Alive?”

“I’m so sorry... I hate having to turn to you like this. Exactly how Xlentia fell; and I feel like a damnable fool for falling for the same trap. An unending seige until we alone are all that can stand, and Atavul to put us in our place...” She responds, distraught.

 

"Yeah... we should go get him."

"Preferably. As much as I like necromancy, I don't think it'll do us much good, here."

 

"There is no shame in failure. We may be gods, but we are not omnipotent." Gaia says.

The other Gaia begins to feel her strength return.

 

“Is there anything better than wartime misunderstandings?” He asks, chuckling.

“It’s nulled anyways. You comin’ to us, or should I send him off on his own?”

“I don’t even know the fate of the children I swore to protect. I thought they would be safe, yet... here I am, sitting in the dust of the sturdiest shield there was. My defeat marks more than broken promises - the Hive Master has no interest in me; he left me sealed when he could have captured me then and there. I was a test, if he could break down any wall, and he’s succeeded.” She sighs, still distraught but starting to sound less weary.

 

"We alone cannot face this evil. If even our most powerful god were to attempt to face the Hive Master, they would most likely fail. We can only trust in our children to become more powerful than we are and to protect us as we have protected them." Gaia says.

 

Gaia hesitates.
“I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me for this, but... I thought your reality discouraged mortals even coming close to matching any of your strengths? Have my children misinformed me?”

 

"Alone, yes. We do not wish for false gods. However, a mass army of my children can match our strength. We only discourage it if we see them becoming corrupt by such power." Gaia says.

 

"I don't know. I never willingly tasted different kinds of poison."

 

“Ah... that makes much more sense. Again, my apologies... so many things still feel hazy.”

“Maybe we could ask Siln if he knows anything that’s immune to poison?”

 

The other Gaia feels rejuvenated somewhat.

"I understand. Returning from death is never easy." Gaia says calmly.

 

“I... oh, there is something Idhaenna wanted me to ask you... something about if she as welcome here, I think. She’s always impatient, though... maybe she was venting? Argh, everything coming back to me at once is a bit much.”

 

"I do not see why she would not be welcome in my reality." Gaia says. The other Gaia begins to feel a lot calmer.
