Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Well, you have an angry half for that.” Anne giggles.

Kiin joins in the hug as well, seeming bittersweet about the news.


Gaia sits up, trying to get her bearings.

“I hardly understood the question.” He admits.

 

"I'm doing my best to control that side."

 

“Well, you’re doing really well.”

 

"I'm saying that the name 'phoenix trial' seems like you're going to want to have a weapon."

 

"Thanks, Abigail. It's nice to see you too, Kiin." Katie says, mood lightening a little bit.

"Come on, we can play some games together." Abigail says positively, smiling at Katie.


She appears to be surrounded by precious items; metals, gems, coins of varying material, weaponry and antiques. The room is rather large, and a heavy door resides at its far end.

 

“Oh, yeah... it does sort of give it away.”

Kiin seems content with Katie’s comment, giving the two a little distance.


She uses her staff as a cane to help herself up, then heads towards the doors. Upon reaching them, she knocks.

 

"'Xactly."

 

Abigail and Katie head over to Katie's TV, Katie turning on a game console and plugging in two extra controllers. Abigail sits on Katie's bed, Katie soon joining her. A controller is left for Kiin to pick up.


Gaia's hand is forced backward as soon as she tries to make contact with the door, a magical barrier in the way.

 

"Thank you, sweety. It is appreciated."

 

“Anyhow... I guess if you’re kind enough not to kill me, so far if nothing else, I’ll tip you off about this place. So, there’s five floors, three are getting reset. There’s a spiraling cave connecting each floor, but only one. If you want to know how much time you have left, check the walls. The brighter they glow, the closer they are to melting down.”

She licks your nose, a bit of frosting smeared on.
“Whoops.” She says, then trying to lick it off.

Kiin takes it, looking it over.


Gaia sighs, backing up a bit.
“Hello? Anyone?”

 

There's a pair of sticks on the controller, as well as four arrows on one side and buttons with coloured shapes on the other.

A game loads on Katie's TV, though Katie skips past the title and straight into the main game. Kiin is prompted to select a character, each of them looking like a guardian. Abigail picks the fire guardian, while Katie picks the water guardian.


There's no response, though a short while later, the door begins to open.

 

Kiin presses the up arrow, confused.


She peeks towards the door, nervous.

 

It cycles to the next guardian, this one an air guardian.


Eve seems to be waiting, a large shot charged up and aimed at Gaia.

"Oh, Miss Gaia. I didn't realise it was you." Eve says respectfully, cancelling her shot.

 

Kiin seems a bit flustered.
“Can I just watch?” She asks, confused.


Gaia seems intimidated.
“Where am I?” She asks, out of it.

 

"Hm? Oh, sure!" Katie says happily, disabling Kiin's character and unplugging her controller.

Katie starts the game, and a level select appears. It depicts the two characters running around a world along set paths. Katie selects a level and after a brief loading screen, the two characters appear in the level. Abigail starts running forward, revealing the game to be a platformer of sorts.


"The royal vault within the Shadow Palace, obviously within the Realm of Shadows." Eve says.

 

Kiin smiles, happy with her sister’s lightening mood.


“So they came...” Gaia sighs, worry increasing.
“Is everyone who went to bring me here okay?”

 

"Good to know. Which are being reset?"

 

“Resets always go from the bottom up, so get on the fourth floor and you’ll be fine. Or, at least, have less problems at hand.”

 

"Fair enough."
The giant nods.

 

The man sighs.
“I, uh... don’t suppose you’ll let me go home, even if I promise to keep my mouth shut?”
