Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“They’re in the hospital right now.”


“Alive, for now. Can’t promise anythin’ else.”


Kiin shudders.
“Reminds me of the stupid Hive Master...”

“Queen. Can’t be a princess if there is no queen.”

 

Katie cuts the connection.

A short while later, Katie bursts into the medical ward, eyes reddened from tears. Nobody seems to protest to her running through.


Tulia keeps drinking her hot cocoa, calmed by the news.


"Quantity ov'r quality." The water guardian shrugs.

 

Alice seems hesitant.
“They’re in really bad shape, don’t... just give it time.”


The catfolk keeps quiet, and the draconian returns to wiping tables down. Tulia’s left to finish her drink in near silence.


Kiin just mumbles something.
“...Thanks, though. I appreciate the advice.”

 

Katie nods, before rushing past.


Tulia doesn't seem to mind, keeping to herself.


The captains nod, before walking back into the crowds of celebrating guardians.

 

"Right. Queen. Sorry."

 

"Well, we all got our own tragedies, don't we?"

 

“Too true, too true.”

Anne giggles.
“I’m your partner, anyways.”

Alice sighs, vanishing.


After a minute, the draconian looks up.
“Hey, miss? The admiral’s giving orders to move out. Is five minutes okay with you?”


Kiin heads up onto the deck of a different ship, seeming largely uninterested in the crowd, or at least untrusting.

 

"Does that make me a king though? Or does that happen when we're married?"

 

"Oh, that's fine. Sorry to be a bother." Tulia says, finishing her hot cocoa and getting up.

 

“Not a-“
The draconian pauses, seeming annoyed.
“...I’ll escort you back to land.” They sigh. “Something’s wrong.”

Kiin peeks in the double doors.
“I don’t trust ‘em. There’s an artillery encampment left. How many of the Blue Amber’s crew survived?”

“I guess it happens when we’re married?” Anne says, unsure.

 

"I think so. Not that it matters to me though, ofcourse."

 

“I guess it’d be nice to have someone help me keep things in the forest running the way they’re supposed to.” Anne shrugs.

 

"I'm not sure. I've only found a few here." Tulia admits.

 

Kiin nods.
“I’ll take you back to land... but I’d keep a few air guardians on watch. The encampment is... unused.”

 

"You do that?"

 

The giant reminisces for a bit as he stares off after the runner.

 

"I'll keep my guard up." Tulia says.

 

The man keeps quiet.

“It’s not like being royalty means all you do is sit around. It’s work.”

Once on the upper deck, Kiin uses her scepter to make an icy ramp down to the water, surface freezing as she walks towards the shore.

The ships seem to be vanishing into thin air as Kiin walks away.

 

Tulia follows Kiin, sliding down the ramp.

The guardians seem to be dispersing, many hugging each other as they depart; perhaps friends, or just good allies.

 

"Does that mean I'll have to work too? Darn.."
