Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I pause, before readying aim and gunning down a few guards that burst through the doors at the far end of the hallway, killing each with one precise shot. I then continue, not seeming to mind the doors closing again.

 

Alice just keeps her gun ready.
“Lemme know when you need half a mag.” She says, sounding weary.

 

"You alright?" I ask.

 

The giant just keeps trailing, weary.

 

"I don't. And I'm okay with that."

 

“No, on so many levels. Let’s get them out of the null field, then I can warp them to my house, or wherever else you want me to bring them.” She growls back, picking up her pace.


Behind the battle, a fleet of forty massive ice-ships rush towards the shoreline, artillery pointed inland.

“We should learn how to bake once we settle down, too. It seems like fun.”

He eventually steps on another brittle rock, and the two men turn with their hands raised.
“H-hey, wait, we don’t want any trouble.”
“Please don’t send us back. We’ll be out of your way before you know it!”
The two don’t even see the giant, but they’re nervous nonetheless.

 

"What the fuck are you two doin' here."
He says in a low growl.

 

“Walkin’ around, just down memory lane.”
“It’s our home, getting changed. It’s like someone ripping up a room in your house every other week.”

 

There's a long silence, like the giant is evaluating their answer.
"How'd you get 'ere."

 

"The palace hospital, optimally." I say, scanning my card at the door and readying my gun. An army of humans is revealed as the doors open. I breathe out, focusing.

The humans open fire at the same time as I. I seem to fire randomly, though each human is killed and no bullets seem to ever get past me. My gun eventually runs out of ammo before all the humans are dead, and I switch to Shadow Katana and begin rapidly deflecting them. I get hit a few times, darkness covering over Aquira so she isn't.


The water guardians at the back glance toward the ships, curious.

 

"Yeah. Spend some time baking bread or cake seems like it would be a fun activity."

 

Alice shoots at whatever heads that belong to enemies that are visible.


As a few stop, one with a draconian child at the helm continues plowing forward a bit.
“FOR THE BLUE AMBER!” Kiin shrieks, raising a scepter as a massive volley of icy artillery is launched towards the human back lines.

“It’d be relaxing, something to do on a rainy day.”

“The ramp up. Y’probably passed it.”
“Hell, it’s the resistance, isn’t it? If you let me get my boy and my family, I’ll show you out of here if you’ll get me away from this place.”

 

The giant looks the men up and down, internally debating something.
"Just... do what you were doing. I don't care."

 

Soon the human army is defeated, though I seem a little wounded; black blood dripping on the floor as I walk.


The humans respond with their own attacks, jets that are able to stay in the air firing missles at the ships and bombs being launched toward them.

A forest guardian pushes through to the back, toward Kiin.

"Kiin?" The forest guardian asks.

 

Faster firing flak cannons shoot the missiles and bombs out of the air, a strong shield around each ship.

“That’s admiral Kiin to you.” She says with a grin, looking down while pointing the scepter at them.

 

I continue onward, looking back at Alice and Sidus.


Some jets unleash machine gun fire upon the ships to try to weaken the shields, but it's clear they're losing.

The forest guardian grows a tree below them to get up to Kiin's height, before hopping toward her and hugging her.

"It's so good to see you're alive. I thought you were killed in the attack. I guess the captain managed to save you too." The forest guardian says happily.

 

“Y-you sure?”
“We’ll show you where it is, promise.”

She looks to grab another gun off a dead guard.


The bullets are reflected back at the jets.

Kiin seems a bit annoyed, but hugs them back.
“Actually, I’ve been stuck at the bottom of the ocean hoping you’d rescue me for three months.”

 

"Just don't fuck it up."
The giant glares at the two of them.

 

They freeze up, unsure of how to respond.

 

The gun is mostly empty, but Alice could always grab some ammo from the other guns. I do the same, collecting ammo before heading onward.


The jets explode, crashing into the shields in a fiery mess.

"Really? I never realised. Though, I suppose I wasn't in a position to." The forest guardian admits.
