Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She checks if she can blink a clone through the top of the elevator.


EBB projects a forcefield, blocking movement and comms between what's left of the perforated environment and the direction they're retreating. It then puts away a single railgun to pull out a megaphone, and looks down at the guardians.
"Requesting permission to convert perforated debris into vaporized data." It calls before swapping the megaphone for a missile launcher.

Seems he just broke a thin, flat rock that was left on the floor.

Judging by the scattering bugs, that may have tipped off his location to everyone else.

"That sounds like an excuse to get cake." Anne says, smug.

 

"Ugh."
He grumbles, continuing to move on.

 

"Might be."

 

It's a little hard, but Alice manages to get inside.


Nobody seems to respond, except me from the crowd.

"Granted!" I yell.

Suddenly, EBB feels the approach of something, and a mass of missles appears to be headed straight for it.

 

He sees a tail dart into a crevasse.

She looks to see if she’s able to descend down the elevator shaft.


EBB fires rails straight through each missile without hesitation, tracing the sources of the launches and firing a single dumbfire missile in return.

“Well, I’m not turning down cake.” Anne laughs.

 

It's a long drop, but it's possible.


The missles explode, sending shockwaves through the air and disorienting the army of guardians, the tsunami faltering a bit. The missles appear to have come from near to the capital city, and more appear to be coming.

 

"Let's go to the baker then before we leave to Siln."

 

Holding the cannon at the ready, he continues forth, looking out for the tail-bearer.

 

She opts to take the fall.


EBB decides to test the city’s resilience, focusing fire on non-elemental soul signatures and anything that’s firing at it, though two arms are dedicated to countering missiles.

He sees a lizard of sorts skitter off into a tiny tunnel.

The air around him seems to be heating up quickly.

Anne nods, hopping on your shoulder.

 

Alice spends a short while falling, before she realizes the elevator is coming up at an alarmingly fast rate. If she doesn't do something, she'll probably slam into it and cause a disruption.


There are hundreds of non-elemental soul signatures to fire upon, and the missles stop coming eventually.

The tsunami turns redder as it gets close to the city outskirts, hundreds of corpses with wounds from EBB present. An army of soldiers armed with heavy weaponry come out of the cover of buildings. They open fire on the approaching tsnuami and manage to pick off a few guardians close to the front before they can create a defense.

 

He starts walking.
"Now.. the bakery wasn't too far from here."

He looks around and smells the air for the smell of fresh bread.

 

Alice tries to merge with the darkness along the walls.


EBB takes the opportunity to fire a half-nuke-strength (no lasting effects, sans crater) explosive square in the middle of town, shifting the forcefield to guard the tsunami as it continues its ridiculous barrage.

It smells like you should take a left, head down two blocks, then turn right.

 

Lol, thank you dog nose.

Bardock follows the scent of the bread.

 

It feels a little harder than before, but she manages to meld into it as the elevator slides by.


Buildings collapse, causing a domino-effect with those left standing. Many soldiers are killed from their covers falling apart, those remaining retreating and trying to get their wounded allies away from the action. The tsunami dies down and fades back into the ocean, many of the guardians not sure how to progress. Many discussions ensue, and I end up being held up on a rock platform.

"He's the one that brought the death machine here! If Mortius comes for our souls, he's to blame!" One of the earth guardians in the crowd shouts.

Many of the discussions turn to voices of anger, all directed towards me; as well as a few objects too.

 

He quickly shoves the cannon down a portal, backing up to find others.

 

She tries to slide down the rest of the way.


"False. I was summoned here by someone else, and considering by your reaction, their identity will remain classified." EBB calls down, flying down towards you. "Despite that, I thank you for the contributions to my research." It adds, desummoning the rocket launcher and two railguns.

There's a draconian and a dryad that were covering his back.

As expected, you show up at the bakery, Anne's tail wagging a bit.

 

Bardock enters.

 

Alice ends up at a pair of closed elevator doors. They're completely sealed, and it seems anything shy of a nuclear explosion will free them forcefully.


The guardian's attention turns to EBB, before I look a little surprised and teleport down to the front of the army of guardians. I appear just in time to parry a sniper shot from one of the standing buildings, aimed at a water guardians head.

"STOP QUARRELING. THERE'S STILL HUMANS LEFT AND IF YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT KILLING THEM THEY'LL KILL YOU RIGHT BACK!" I yell, before swiftly angling Shadow Katana every tenth of a second to block a barrage of machine gun fire, focused on each bullet.

The guardians go quiet, before returning to the offensive. Water and Earth guardians form huge golem-suits, forest and death guardians spread creeping vines with carnivorous offshoots into the city, and air and fire guardians take to the sky. The remaining soldiers charge out, and I'm unable to block the mass of bullets aimed at the army of guardians, many of them getting gunned down moments before their killers are torn apart.

The ground rumbles as tanks roll towards the army, shooting down the golem suits of the earth and water guardians and resisting the attacks; for a while, at least. A line of air and fire guardians are wiped out from the sky in a bloody mess, a jet shooting by at the speed of sound. Explosions suddenly burst from further back in the army as more jets zoom past, bombs being dropped.

 

She waits for the elevator to come back down, sending the clone near the top of the shaft to keep an eye on things from above.


EBB returns to its six-railgun ways, prioritizing machinery.
"More test subjects, wonderful!"

The baker carries a few freshly baked loaves of bread to a display case.
"Hello again. Not into huge crowds, I'm guessing?"

 

The elevator takes a while to return, but once it does, the doors remain shut.


The tanks are able to take a few hits before their drivers evacuate, joining the attack. The jets are too fast, however; the only jet being taken down by an earth guardian being launched into it in their golem suit. As the battle continues, I fall back into the crowds, looking for Artemis again with more concern this time.
