"Whatever. What creature next?"

 

"Ah, good to know."
I nod, turning to leave.
"Thanks for your time."

 

Rose treads towards them, trying to catch sight of their target.

Anne pauses.
"How about something that should be in the water?"

"No problem. Have a good day!"

 

“You too.”
I wave as I walk off.

 

The wolves seem to be chasing after a deer, some of them circling around to cut it off.

 

"Some sort of fish? What kind?"

 

"Or merfolk. I doubt there'd just be a fish here."

Rose keeps her distance, eventually meditating to pass the time.

You're left on your own again, someone walking out of their house off a few minutes out.

 

"Merfolk, right. They kind of look like lizards of some sort, right?"

 

Rose feels a strange connection open as she meditates, and she finds herself drifting away from consciousness, but not into unconsciousness.

 

"Kinda. I... don't actually know what they look like."

She tries to trace it, drawing residual magic from around her to boost the trace strength.

 

Drawing residual magic seems to be rendered moot. It feels like Rose is connected to magic itself.

 

I observe the person for a bit, interested.

 

"Is it time to start?" She thinks.

They head towards another mine, disappear into a shed, then come out again in a uniform.

 

I try and remember if I've seen the uniform before.

 

Rose doesn't get a response, but she can feel power flowing through her.

 

"Ehm.. let's just look for creatures that look fishy then."

 

She breaks the connection, hesitant.

"Alright... Anything with fins, I guess?"

 

Rose finds herself covered in a blanket of snow. It seems time passed by a lot quicker while she was meditating.

 

She wipes the snow off her face as she looks around.

 

"Let's start counting."

He looks through the crowd, searching for fish people.
"Hey Arga! What kind of race are you exactly?"
