Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I sweep up the cards, taking them and those in the discard pile and re-shuffling the deck.

 

"I shall also be helping. I believe the extraction of Gaia would be the best task for me." Eve says.

 

“In that case, we’ll leave the crystal to you.” Xlentia says as Rose leaves.
“...But get out. Go to the portal room. Shoo.”

Mitch’s forehead hits the table, asleep.
“Well, that’s new.” Al comments.

 

Eve follows Rose out.

 

"So, what then? We keep going?"

 

"We should probably drag them home before they wake up here."

Rose glances over at Eve.
"...I'm not actually the empress of hell." She says. "I haven't been home in ages."

 

"I could take care of that."
I stand up.
"Not that I know where he lives."

 

"So you two are tour guides then. How did that happen?"

 

"Since the portals opened, tourism is at an all time high. By, like, a lot. The guard's doubled their ranks and they hired a bunch of new guides. I can't speak for her, though. Ask her when you get back."

"Castle bunk room. Drop them off in the courtyard and it'll be fine."

 

Eve looks straight ahead.

"I didn't think you were." Eve says.

 

"I guess Xlentia really has gone too far... Emerald said she once erased parts of her own memory out of spite of herself. I haven't been empress in thousands of reincarnations. If she's forgotten something that happened so much earlier than even the Hive Master's birth..." Rose trails off.

Rose stops at the portal room, pulling her veil over her face. Doing so causes her dress and her roses to turn pitch black.
"Do you want me to distract Atavul or try and evacuate as many as possible?"

 

"Evacuate as many as possible. The gods will distract Atavul." Eve says.

 

Rose nods, her bouquet disintegrating to ashes that she spreads around the area.
"Once we finish this up, could you remind me to give Emerald my report?"

 

"I shall." Eve nods.

 

"Thanks."

Xlentia's rumbling footsteps soon draw closer.
"Okay, I was told I wouldn't be going this alone?" She calls down the hall.

 

Eve steps out to see Xlentia.

"Tenebrae will also be assisting." Eve says, voice being amplified like a megaphone.

 

"Who? The lioness?"

 

"Yeh."

"Is she ready?" Xlentia calls back, eyes seeming to be windows into nothingness instead of their usual purple.

 

"She should arrive soon, hopefully." Eve says.

 

"I'm not opening the portal until she's here and I know I'm not being tricked somehow." Xlentia says flatly, tapping a claw against the ground.
