Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Artemis exerts the last of her power in growing a huge tree below her, a pair of wooden hands extending to hold the crystal in place for her.

With her power drained, Artemis collapses, unconscious, into the tree; hitting the branches on the way down and eventually falling out onto the ground.

Onyx, worried, runs over to Artemis' body. She takes a longer route around Sgavrinn, however.

 

"Sure thing."
He follows the lioness.

 

"Well, I don't have much."
I toss my cards face-up on the table.

 

Sgavrinn winds up outpacing Onyx, running over and sniffing her nervously.

The four just slide their cards to you again.

She leads you to a gate, the guards nodding at her as the hawk lands on a nearby fencepost.
"Well, shall we get going?"

 

Onyx seems stuck, trying to decide whether to check on Artemis or stay away from Sgavrinn.

Artemis is still breathing, though she looks rather bruised from the fall.

 

"I'm already following you and I don't feel like returning now. So let's go."

 

The hawk flies low to the ground, making a lot of circles to let you keep up.

Sgavrinn whines, trying to heal her.

 

Some of the bruises fade, but Artemis remains unconscious.

 

Sgavrinn whines before suddenly grabbing Artemis and Onyx with vines and running back towards the Void Palace portal as the air in the palace starts to get warmer and everything's thrown into disarray once again.

"GO... GET ME... THAT GIRL!" A deep voice roars.

 

Onyx covers her ears, looking around for the source of the voice as she's dragged along.

 

The ground rumbles as a heat wave makes breathing nigh insufferable and molten bits of the ceiling start to fall.

 

Onyx looks scared, for once trying to get closer to Sgavrinn.

 

He flings Onyx and Artemis through the portal as giant talons start ripping the ceiling open, but Onyx sees the portal get crushed by a giant talon before destabilizing with Sgavrinn trapped on the other side.
“THE OTHERREALM... OF COURSE...” The voice roars.
“SUCH A SHAME A PRECIOUS GIFT LIKE YOU IS NOW MINE...” is the last thing Onyx hears before the Void Palace portal room reverts to its normal state.

 

Onyx tries reaching out to Sgavrinn before the portal closes.

Onyx changes back to her cat form, worried, curing up next to Artemis' unconscious body.

 

The portal winds up reopening long enough for a mangled Sgavrinn to be flung through.
“I HAD A CHANGE OF HEART. KEEP YOUR RAT.”

 

Onyx checks to see if Sgavrinn is still alive.

 

His neck is crushed and he’s down a wing and a leg, but he’s still breathing, sort of.

Emerald rushes over along with several guards, telekinetically taking Sgavrinn and Artemis.
“Where’s Aj?” She asks Onyx urgently.

 

Onyx points to Artemis with a paw.

 

Emerald nods, leaving with the two in tow.


Later, Alice forces you to leave Artemis while taking over for any internal healing or support.

 

Onyx follows Emerald.


I appear to be unconscious too, simply appearing in Artemis' shadow.

The only internal bleeding seems to be from bruises, though Artemis' hair turns grey as I leave.
