"Eh, she more or less just gave up." I say.

 

"Definitely. Freshly baked bread is the best."

 

"Hm."
I flip over three cards for the middle.

 

“She gave up... on a fight you won. Are you saying there was an illusion given to the crowd?”

Tens of reds, two of spades.

“You also a baker, or you lucky enough for someone to share bread that just came out of the oven?”

 

"Nope, I'm not a baker. But I know what freshly baked bread tastes like."

 

"Probably, I think she wanted to see me privately." I say

 

“If you didn’t, I’d have to buy you some. Never having fresh bread is just sad.”

“I question the choice of venue, but I’m neither of you. Anyhow, continue.”

 

He nods.
"I would be okay with that."

 

I give it a bit, then flip over another.

 

"How have the other gods and goddesses been?" I inquire.

 

“Atavul and O’rogal are still mind controlled and dark. Gaia’s still tending to her wounds and her lost children... and you might want to go comfort her, she’s lost more children than your reality’s Gaia has, and she’s totally out of it right now. Then, Xlentia took a decade nap in your Gaia’s Gardens, and Idhaenna’s still rebuilding and slightly irritated Praecantatia threatened Stella.”

“Maybe I’ll find some way to give other people fresh bread. Then again, maybe that’s my crazy dream fantasy.”

 

"I'll go get Artemis and see Gaia then. She'll probably help out a lot." I say happily.

 

"That doesn't seem impossible. I don't see why that couldn't be possible."

 

I inspect the condition of the other players before flipping the final one.

 

Emerald nods.
“Don’t worry too much about Gaia. Her defenses won’t help much as long as O’rogal and Atavul are still mind controlled.”

“I’m in debt is part of the reason.”

"What are they the gods of again?" I ask.

 

"Ew. Yeah that sucks."

 

I cast my cards onto the table, face up, and lean back in my chair a bit.

 

“Water, magic, history; and fire, war, rebirth.”

“Yeah... hard to get a good job as a shifter.”

They toss in their cards again.

 

"The god of history? Does he have time powers?" I ask.
