Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She's heading to her chambers, smelling of sea salt and swamp.

Owen and Al call, Percy checks.
Nine of clubs, queen of spades, four of clubs.

 

I don’t raise, calling if anyone else raises, then turning another card.

 

"Hey!" I call, trying to get Xlentia's attention.

 

"Yeah, they are supposed to have a break soon, right?"

 

"Well, bigger tours run from the half hour to the hour. 'sabout five till right now."

She slows, looking confused.
"...Is someone there?" She asks, checking under her feet.

The round passes with checks alone, the next card an ace of hearts.

 

I grow a pair of shadow wings and fly up to Xlentia's head.

"Yo." I say, smiling.

 

"Five more minutes?"

 

"Yeah. You on a tight schedule or something?"

"Oh, hi. There was a shadow guardian in Gaia's Gardens that says hi." She says, looking at you.

 

"Oh, who was it?" I ask, curious.

 

“They said their name was Iz. And they spoke of some other shadow king that had a bigger name than you.”

 

"No, not really. I just have to return to Arga's in about 45 minutes."

 

“You’ve got plenty of time, then. You the person she made the suit for?”

 

"Huh, I don't think I've ever met them. I guess they are dead though." I shrug.

 

“They probably lived before you were a living thing.” She shrugs. “Anyhow, I got sent back early because Temporus is making a big deal over my brother being mind controlled. Something about worse than he thought?”

 

"Isn't he affiliated with light? I can see how that could be a problem for us," I say, "And you're still using that dangerous technology you stole from the light creatures..."

 

"Yes. Did she show it to you?"

 

“Oh, those pulse thingies? You know they’re powered by darkness, right?”

“They’ve been visible from the front for a while now. They look really good.”

 

"What?" I ask, confused.

 

“We got rid of the light ones after Emerald got un-mind-controlled, along with their blueprints. The pulse thingies she has now use darkness.”

 

"I guess that's kind of ironic." I say happily.
