"Thank you."

He unwraps the muffin and takes a bite.
"This is good. Mmm."

 

"We're sort of a hybrid of a guardian and a Shadow. For example, Shadows don't possess natural telepathic or telekinetic abilities, but Shadow Guardians of the elements of Forest and Earth do." Iz says.


I grab a bunch of my opponent's kunai and gather them together close to her, before shoving Shadow Katana into them and teleporting away before they explode and implode.

 

OOC: 'Tis I who needs the sleep.

"Well?"
I look to Al.

 

Xlentia nods, before donning a curious look.
“Do you by chance remember when you got here?”


They cut you as you grab them, but the entropy seems to feed her, and you teleport into her blade, soul starting to be pulled into nothingness.

Mitch seems to catch on.
“Yeah... l-let’s get the chips out... you count ‘em...” He mumbles, drunk.
Al glares at you.

It tastes something like pound cake with a hint of cinnamon, before the berries’ flavor takes over.

“Glad you like it. We’ll be happy to make a cake for your big day once your partner is here, so just come back when you two are ready.”

 

"Hundreds of years ago." Iz shrugs.


I scream, arena filling with darkness, ground corrupting. My opponents eyes feel like they close, never opening as if they were never there to begin with.

 

"Ofcourse."
He delightfully eats his treat while waiting for the guides to show up.

 

I look at him questioningly, searching for the chips.

 

"Was it before or after the war between realms?"


She seems... completely unaffected, occasionally sticking a kunai or two through the ground.

Al snags the case from Percy and hands it to you.

I guess some shapeshifters are nice? The guards told us to be wary, though. It's weird, like they think you're one of them.

A breeze takes some of the heat of the sun off your back as you wait, but everyone who comes near just keeps going.

 

I take the case and deal out the appropriate amount of chips.

 

"War between realms?" Iz asks.


The kunais blacken, turning corrupt as legs burst out of them, red eyes and mouths home to sharp teeth appearing on them randomly as they scuttle toward their previous owner and try to attack her.

 

"Yes, one that left the realm of light and darkness without royalty."


They simply wither into nothing as the kunai erupt with unstable energy that desecrates the ground.

There's white, teal, and dark green chips.
"Ten, fifty, hundred." Al says. "Pass out five hundred."

 

I pass out ten tens, four fiftys, and two hundreds.

 

"Huh, never thought we'd fight. Light creatures were always pretty solitary." Iz says.


I groan.

"I tire of this fight, we're at an impasse. I would much rather spend time doing something more productive, like killing the Hive Master." I sigh.

 

"I'm not having any luck with this."

 

"Well, their god tried to kill me, so I'm not so sure about that." Xlentia grumbles.


"If you yield, then I will offer you the choice one more time - either experience the pain of a thousand deaths, or leave without knowing who I am."

"Luck with what?" A snake asks in passing. "Waiting for a guide?"

"Ten and twenty blinds, who's dealing?" Al asks, laying the deck of cards in the middle of the table after shuffling.

 

"Lux?" Iz asks.


"You truly think you can match the pain experienced of servitude in hell's arena?" I ask, doubtful.

 

"Yep. So, uh... I don't know how to say this, but I'm from another reality. I'm kind of like Tenebrae, a goddess of darkness."


"You truly think hell's arena can match the pain experienced from infinite lives, infinite timelines, all reset because something didn't go someone else's way?" She asks, removing her mask to reveal Petunia's undead split-face. "You truly think you can even compare to a fraction of my pain?"

 

"Makes sense. I don't recall ever hearing about some kind of giant dragon god." Iz shrugs.


"Maybe there's a reason you're experiencing that." I say, narrowing my eyes.

 

"Goddess." Xlentia reiterates.


"Of course there is. There is a reason for everything and everyone." She nods, sheathing her blade as she pulls out a purple coin. "So... I have one more question for you... Heads, or tails? This time, the answer will not be neither."

 

"Sorry." Iz apologises.


"Tails." I say.
