"A status check. How're ya doin'?"

 

"No, I am Stella. I am the AI behind everything you'll experience here. Any robots, automated systems, simulations, communication, tracking, and so on. I'm also currently hosting over 200 thousand classes and lectures at the moment, so I hope you can pardon a few extra nanoseconds of latency."


"I screwed up!" She cries, slightly muffled.

"The barrier's down, mother's asleep, and everyone's too scared to come out of their house. You happy?"

 

"...No. Has anyone died?"

 

"If anyone had, I'd be looking for ways to be at your throat right now... So no. Here's to hoping for both of our sakes that it stays that way."

 

"Yeah... she didn't seem that tired..."

 

"Well, she must've been, because she's barely breathing at this point."

 

"Fuck."
Pause.
"Do you still have the circlets?"

 

"What language are you written in?" Shadow Stephanie asks.


"What do you mean? What did you screw up?" Katie asks, concerned. Katie skates over to Xlentia to try and pat her to make her feel better, but ends up sort of patting Xlentia's foot.

 

She smiles.
"It's a custom language that's kept to myself and Idhaenna, and most things here are built using another custom language I devised after observing a few other programming languages. As with everything else, I'm terrible with naming things and just named it IGCS, or Intergalactic Common Syntax." Stella explains.


Xlentia winds up twitching, almost kicking Katie.
"I thought Gaia was insulting all of us... I told Idhaenna that, and she said it wasn't true!"

"Of course, nobody's touched them since."

 

"Good. They're not just cosmetic."

 

"Stop beating around the bush and get to your point."

 

"I was just wondering how Keila was doing. If you need any help, just contact me, yeah?"

 

"Clever, I can't say I haven't done the same with AI's of my own." Shadow Stephanie says.

Stephanie takes off her visor, putting her helmet back on and instead using her armour as a 'visor'. Stephanie flips her sword so it looks a little holographic, a more visible GUI appearing before her face.


"Why do you think you screwed up? What was Gaia really doing?" Katie asks, moving back a bit.

 

"Okay, let me repeat myself - the barrier's down, our goddess is sleeping in the middle of town, and your circlets aren't helping."

The display seems to compensate, showing Stephanie the same thing as Shadow Stephanie.
"Yes... Oh, and you're the perfect person to ask. This Eve project of yours... I've heard much about her, and I'd love to meet her. I tried to relay that message to your home, where I don't deem it safe enough to tread, but perhaps you might decrease the risk of conflict were I to go, or allow Eve to visit me?"


"I dunno, I just thought she was insulting us. I can't remember, sheesh!"

 

"Why is she in the middle of town? Don't you have a medical ward, or something? And the circlets can't do much to help you if she's unconscious."

 

"Have you tried carrying her? It takes all three of our pets!"

 

"Yes. I did. Maybe it was easier because I lifted the pillow with her, and not just her, but you could do the same."

 

"You're telling me that a pillow makes an immortal's body as light as one of us?"

 

"Well...I guess we can sort of see eye to...camera here. Eve's our private project, and like you wouldn't want your code getting out, we don't want hers. Plus you're a giant network so it's not like anything you do will be hidden for long," Shadow Stephanie explains, "While we know word of her getting out was an inevitability, we still want to keep a lot of her aspects secret. I'm worried with your kind of mass power you'd be able to read her like a book and release her schematics to everyone. Our security is extremely tough around her, but with the sort of power you've shown, you might be able to break it eventually."

Stephanie tries to open her original GUI too, a little uncertain with the new one and her responsive armour.


"Oh...sorry." Katie says, happy mood seeming to fade.

 

"I'm saying that you could try lifting the thing with more surface area, allowing more people to try at once."
Pause.
"Y'know, if ya really can't do it, I can get it done for you."
