Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Possession... fascinating.” Lenka says, distracted despite his panicked face. “Is... is she going to be okay?”


Idhaenna links with Tenebrae, or tries to.
“Lady Tenebrae, do you have a moment?”

 

"Is it still night. I thought it would already be morning."

 

Seems you're really good at losing track of time in a dream.
Anne shifts a bit in response, but doesn't say anything.

 

"She should be." Shadow Stephanie says through Stephanie.


"Yes?" Tenebrae asks.

 

“What zapped her? There aren’t any main wires running by here.”


“I lost my temper with one of your children and said things I regret. I wanted to apologize to you before them, seeing as they struggle with the concept of not threatening allies or bystanders.”

 

"I'm not sure, but her magic isn't dense enough for her to be using it yet." Shadow Stephanie says through Stephanie.


"If you wish to, you may; though my children aren't known to be the...friendliest. They're quite violent, so threatening and further annoying those around them is quite common." Tenebrae explains.

 

"I wonder how long a day is in the dream world compared to the awake world." He thinks to himself.

 

Lenka seems unsure.
"Could it be the armor? That seems a bit counterintuitive, though... if the thing meant to protect her, hurt her."


"In my loss of temper, I threatened to push their realm towards a reset. If it wasn't such a dire threat, I might not have tried to contact you immediately to make amends." Idhaenna admits.

You hear some movement deeper in the cave, likely a result of the hatchlings moving about. Other than that, everything's quiet.

 

"I wouldn't think so. Praecantatia probably made this, I doubt it's flawed." Shadow Stephanie says through Stephanie.


"That's a horrible threat, though only I have the power to reset my realm." Tenebrae says.

 

"How much time passed anyways?"
He looks outside the cave, seeing if it's still dark or not.

 

Lenka glances at his armband before looking confused.
"So, uh... our scanners aren't picking up anything else aside from us. Idhaenna isn't picking up any other soul signatures. Whatever it was is either the armor or something else that followed you here. Unless, of course, you have other ideas."


"Again, I sincerely apologize. I did not expect my patience to wear so thin so fast."

It's sunrise, and the storm seems to have cleared up.

 

"It could've been she tried to overdo herself with her magic, and it backfired on her." Shadow Stephanie says.


"Apology accepted." Tenebrae says, a slight cheeriness in her tone.

 

"Okay... I just wish she didn't try to... I don't know... do whatever pushed her too far, I guess. Uhm... you want to continue the tour?"


"Thank you so much. I hope to be able to visit your reality sometime soon, and I'd hate to spoil our relations before I got the chance. Though... if you don't mind me asking, I can't help but notice a massive polarity. Your group seems to keep away from mortals, whereas ours doesn't. I'm sure both of us have a laundry list of reasons to avoid what the other does, but I sort of want to know why it's working for you."

 

"Sure, why not." Shadow Stephanie shrugs, checking out Stephanie's armour from her perspective.


"Being a god is a delicate business. If you do too little, your followers will lose faith in you. If you do too much, your followers will become dependent on you. You need to find the perfect balance, enough to give your followers faith, but also independence," Tenebrae explains, "To my children, I am a legend. Those to be within my presence are considered extremely lucky, and many pray to me in their times of need. I can't answer all of their prayers, but I do enough for them to know they don't go unheard."

 

"Well... we've got a moon's surface area worth of starship to cover, minus the mess hall. You have any preferences for where I take you next? Bunk rooms, the quarters reserved for you and your group, or should we swing back to the control room or engineering bay?"


Idhaenna laughs.
"I suppose I've gone overboard on the other end, then. Such a shame we don't have a god of time, else I might see eye to eye with you. That, however, isn't logic I can contest, so I appreciate the insight."
Pause.
"Before I let you get back to your business, do you think you could do a small favor for me?"

 

"Eh, whichever route is the most efficient I guess." Shadow Stephanie shrugs.


"Which is?" Tenebrae asks.

 

"A full tour would take two weeks. I'd appreciate it if you helped narrow down what you want to see." Lenka sighs.


"Your children have created a robot that goes by the name of Eve. I have an ongoing project named Stella who has caught wind of her existence and is interested in communicating with her, but she deems the level of hostility in the realm of your children unsuitable to reach out to this Eve. I was wondering if you would be able to reach out to them and either make traveling there safe enough for Stella to go, or if you could point Eve in Stella's direction." Idhaenna explains. "If you don't have time for such a task, I fully understand. I'm currently a few weeks behind schedule myself."

 

"Well would you look at that. Everything is clear."

 

"Do you have a giant death laser?" Shadow Stephanie asks.


"I know of such a robot, though it belongs to the king of my realm. I could pass this information onto him if you wish." Tenebrae says.


Meanwhile...

Amethyst senses a pair of people drawing close to her, Bea stepping forward to greet them.

 

"No, this is a civilian class ship. If your partner didn't infuriate my sister, though, I have a feeling you two would get along... were you to respect her boundaries, at least."


"If you wouldn't mind, I would greatly appreciate it."


She knocks her tail against the ground, trying to identify what they are.

Something on the side of the mountain darts off in a hurry.

The view is beautiful, but one thing's clearly off; while you were asleep, tsunami waves seemed to have cleared up most of the ash and rubble in the forest... and thoroughly churned whatever was left of the two ruined nations.
